Very Rare 4x4 Classic in Need of Immediate Rescue

1955 Chevy Suburban 4x4 - RARE BLANK CANVAS FOR YOUR CREATIVE TALENTS

Rare.  Project.   1955 4x4 Suburban.  

Chevrolet did not keep detailed records on how many of each model they made in the truck line so there is no way to know how many Suburbans were made in the Tri Five era.  Some reports I read have stated about 8,000 to 9,000 Suburbans in 1955.  As I understand it, considerable more panel trucks were made and sold, making Suburbans of that era fairly rare.  

Body is complete and straight, and in excellent condition considering it's 70 years old (same as me, which is why I bought it, and why I'm selling it - my desires outdid my reality).  The fenders, doors, panels, hood, grill are all straight.  It has had dealer installed 4x4 3/4 ton axles in 1961.  The paint has been stripped on almost the entire truck inside and out, there is very little major rust - two small spots, but there is surface rust all over and this should be painted or at least primed ASAP.  This truck came from the Oregon interior high desert where there is very little moisture in the air and no salt on the roads which aided in keeping this metal body from deteriorating, which is rare in these body styles.  The body is complete, the hood, fenders, grill, fender wells all of the windows, windshield, knobs, interior, etc. are in the truck.

NOTE:  The cab metal area above the windshield, which is a known serious major rust issue area, is pristine, no rust.

A 454 big block with engine stand, Quadrajet carb on an Edelbrock high rise, HEI ignition, turbo 400 trans married to transfer case is included.

This is a rare project that deserves completion. It is titled in California in my name with new plates, ie: title is very clean.
