This listing is for a 1988 Vanagon GL Westfalia edition with 114K original miles. It shares a parking place in my hangar with my 1985 Porsche 930 Turbo that I have owned since new (no – the 930 is not for sale).

The vehicle is in original condition with the exception of the following safety related upgrades: Oversized Girling Disk Brakes front and rear (replacing smaller disks in front and drum brakes in the rear), 16” wheels and tires replacing the original 14”(needed to make room for the larger disk brakes), Halogen headlights housed in the new European-style front grill and Koni shock absorbers.

It is a very reliable vehicle. I drive it 3 or 4 times a month and everything in it works perfectly; 2.1 L engine, 4-speed transmission, cooling system, air conditioner, heater, radio, refrigerator and stove. Pop top canvas is in great condition.

The vehicle has never been damaged or involved in any kind of road accident. That being said, the exterior is not ‘perfect’. It shows the results of 30+ years of driving and camping. It has many small marks in the paint and a couple of very small ‘dimple’ dents. I really like the appearance myself and I would never have it repainted. It has ‘patina’ and as they say, they’re only original once.

I am selling because I have recently purchased a larger camper (a Winnebago ‘Revel’) so that I can have enough room for my 3 Grandchildren when we go camping.
