The Avanti (including the Avanti II) is an American performance sports coupe based on the Studebaker Avanti and marketed through a succession of five different ownership arrangements between 1965 and 2006.
After Studebaker's December 20, 1963, closure of its South Bend factory and effective discontinuation of the auto with the 1964 model year, cars carrying the Avanti nameplate were initially produced from leftover Studebaker components, and later by the Avanti Motor Company from General Motors and Ford chassis and engines. A small and often interrupted stream of increasingly modified cars was made before all production ceased in 2006.
There have been numerous companies that have reproduced the Iconic "Avanti" sportscar. In 2003, Avanti Motors purchased copyrights and began taking orders to build a very limited supply of the car. You could choose the option of having a GM or a Ford platform and running gear. Depending on options, these cars were sticker priced from $63,000 to $78,000. They featured all of the modern safety features such as Air Bags, Seatbelts, Shoulder Belts, and Anti-lock Disc Brakes. Other amenities and options included transmission choices, Leather Interior, Power Seats, Modern Sound System, Air-Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Tilt Steering and Cruise Control. All of these cars were hand assembled and built from new platforms that carried a full factory warranty.
This particular example is a Power Top Roadster that was built on the Ford platform with a 4.6 liter Ford V-8 engine and AOD Automatic transmission. It has all of the options listed above and has only been driven 135 miles!!!!
Avanti Motors only produced these vehicles for a few years, making them that much more desirable in today's world, What a great opportunity to own a legendary classic with the comfort, reliability and performance that only modern technology can bring.
