2004 New Formula Red S2000 with 46,172 Miles
Collector Condition?
1 Owner 1 Driver and that's me!

Brief History and Reason for Selling:

This is not my first sports car so it did not suffer the excitement of a young driver racing around in their first performance car.  To the contrary, I am pretty old and my previous sports car was a rare and highly collectable V12 E-Type Jaguar convertible which I sadly had to leave in England when I moved to the USA.  I can say I have been equally delighted by every drive in the S2000 as I ever was in the E-Type.  Until recently, I felt I would never part with this S2000 but I have come to terms with getting older and now I am nervous that someday my S2000 might get it's first ever door ding or worse.  Plus, I've always owned a second vehicle along side the S2000 and now I drive my SUV more and more because I have a growing family with grand kids to haul around.

How does this S2000 still look new and why is it still in perfect mechanical condition?
Why haven't I said this 2000 is in perfect condition?

Because annoyingly I know it's not perfect!  Please look at the last two photos which I have surrounded with a green border. Combined you will see 4 green arrows pointing out the imperfection I am aware of.

  • The very corner of the driver's side front spoiler was grazed against one of those concrete parking stoppers - my fault
  • A few inches above the graze it appears a small (less than an inch) thin area of paint has been 'rubbed' off
  • On the driver's side front wing somewhere above the S2000 badge there is a tiny indentation, manybe 1.5", caused by a broom handle falling about two feet against the car.  You really can't see it and if I hadn't mentioned it you probably never would
  • On the lower entry side of the driver's seat there is evidence of wear in the leather where I got in and out of the car
  • Finally with no photo possible, there has been a Beatles CD in the CD player for over 10 years because it refuses to eject.  Sometimes it will play and sometimes it won't which I think may depend on the ambient temperature.  The eject motor can be heard whirring so that is not the problem.  On the S2K owners / enthusiasts site I see this is not an uncommon problem and there are suggestions about how to remove the stuck CD.  I decided not to tamper with things because the radio works perfectly with no distortion from any of the 4 speakers so why bother.

A few Facts and Figures:
Thanks for checking out this post and I hope you find the S2000 you are looking for.  If you are bored from the above but still have a little time on your hands I have a little FYI for you and it might even be interesting to current S2000 Owners.

My Day with Andretti Racing at the Las Vegas Race Track:

Simply by chance and shortly after purchasing my S2000, Honda presented me with the opportunity to drive the Las Vegas race track with an Andretti Team race car driver.  Not the oval but the race track.  I had my choice of cars from Vipers and lots of other racy cars but I choose the new yellow S2000 from the lineup, obviously!  I was installed in the passenger seat with the pro race car driver at the wheel.  The only comment from him was, "We will be doing faster laps than any of the other cars because this car is amazing on a race track".

I was scared, stunned, and amazed at how this S2000 performed in a racing environment.  I think I can safely say that most S2000 road drivers, even if they are really confident and racy, will never experience the handling and performance the S2000 is capable of.

I didn't take my turn at the wheel because I needed to come to terms with what was possible from an S2000 compared to the fun I was already having every time I drove mine.  I did feel that sometimes I was pushing the limits for fun but now I know I was only slightly opening the box of possibilities.  Stay safe and drive carefully always.
