Vehicle Details

Originally sold in northern Italian market with air conditioning. 11 years owned- restomod. This car is solid with some paint bubbles, most have been there for a decade without growing. The desert climate has almost ceased oxidation on the body. Study the photos carefully as I tried to highlight major flaws.

This vintage BMW goes 180 km/h up steep autobahn hills or cruise America�s B road with up to 26 mpg, stock 3.25 ratio final drive.

Full history and maintenance records go back to the 1980�s. Conversion to R-134 blows cold with original blower, evaporator and has not needed recharge after 10 years. Same shape as original 16 gauge steel fuel tank fabricated by a 4x4 shop and then galvanized. Bilsteins sport shocks at the rear. Aluminum radiator and AC condenser. 4k miles on top end rebuild- NOS injectors, NOS distributor, Mahle piano top pistons, 1984 cyl head. Oil filter adapter fits modern screw on oil filters. Other minor things were modified to enhance simplicity and reliability- all easily reversible.

The pinstripe is not stock. Respray and body repairs occurred in the 1990s. The paint can be judged as 7/10 with all rust being ground, treated and filled in some way. Left rear window inoperative.

Numbers matching- Original Engine block,

four side windows, body# 4375641- built and assembled by Karmann in July 1976. Body gaps look straight and parallel.

The previous (3rd) owner reports that these original 14 inch BBS wheels had the VIN painted on before respray.

The windshield seems to have a subtle seven inch swirl mark on the right side. Rear glass replaced in 1990s. True mileage unknown- current cluster functions and shows 218,000 km, includes one spare gauge cluster and 4 speed gear box.

The original leather has been nourished with Bag Balm in its cracked state. The seats were originally padded with coconut fiber and have been additionally bolstered with modern foam from a 7-series. Leather seat belt receptacle sleeves from a 7-series. Headliner- good I can�t photo everything. The original carpet is in great condition with custom fit Coco mats on top. Dashboard- a few cracks. The door cards are rare before they had the provision plug for a manual crank, but sadly they have speakers added.

Car has been prepped for sale with oil change and a new battery. Selling as a chance for a purist to save before I start making more extreme modifications. Driven 22k km miles in the past 11 years.
