1985 P-Type Toyota Celica Supra, manual 5-Spd W-58 transmission, rear wheel drive, limited slip rear differential, 2.8L fuel injected 5MGE inline six cylinder engine, with 269,435 miles on it. No accidents or crashes.
This example had full engine rebuild in 2020/2021 by a garage in LA area that it was purchased from. In 2021, car was restored featuring:
- replaced power moonroof that now is fully functional
- new clutch flywheel and rear main seal (in 2022)
- new aluminum radiator
- replaced dashboard from another car (a $600 value purchase)
- reupholstered seats front and rear (keeping original striped central fabric swath, a $2,000 expense)
- hand-stitched instrument cluster cover with marine blue vinyl (a $650 cost), see interior pic (looks better than OEM one).
- replaced extendable hatch cover with new cloth matching original color (a $500 cost), see pic
- replacement carpet set installed (with soundproofing underneath)
- braided steel brake lines
- rear coilovers
- replacement extendable radio antenna
- new oil pan gasket (in 2022)
- new muffler (in 2023)
Car is a runner.
Issues include:
- A/C not functional
- various small paint chips and dings
- rear hatch cover windscreen wiper inoperable
- minor dents on front fenders
This car has been loved and is a head-turner. It's the quintessential 1980s sports car, with its pop-up headlights and fantastic angular styling. It's Toyota design at its best and it's a joy to drive. Selling car as I've another Supra project on the go.
