This auction is for a 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda 383ci (now 440ci) with a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission. I named it the “Summerland” Cuda because that name was scribbled inside the back trunk when I bought it. I thought it was a fitting name for this Sunshine State car. I purchased this car in Florida in approximately 2005. Car was sitting in primer with some body work done it already. What grabbed me was the fact that it was extremely straight, it still had its numbers matching 383 (though not running) and that it was one of the few big block ‘Cudas built with air conditioning. The car came with a mangled build sheet that was encased in plastic and no fender tags. You can tell that it was once a two-tag car, like many ‘71s are. All the numbers matched the VIN on the body. The owner told me that he wrote down every option on the car before he stripped it down, which is not proof of exact original specifications. He handed me the sheets pictured when I bought it. No high dollar or rare options on there, except for the obvious air conditioning and the billboard option. I never made reissue tags. The car was straight and had all its trim in good shape. I ended up putting the ‘Cuda on a homemade rotisserie. After we restored the car (not to show standards) it was driven for a few years and then put away, first in a family garage in Northwest New Jersey, and then it was driven to another garage a few miles away in where it sat the last ten years. Like stated, it was driven to the location and ran well. The car boasts what appears to be its original floors, rear quarters and trunk extensions, doors, hood, trunk lid and driver’s front fender. The passenger fender was replaced at some point in the 80’s with a ’70 fender, modified with the gills and headlight buckets. It was done well. At one point it’s obvious it did have a fender bender on the passenger side as there is a minor repair on the lower radiator support. The car was painted in Imron in 2005 and has been touched up a few times. Curious Yellow is a very forgiving color to the eye, and the paint will need work. The body now has typical issues of Northeast cars, but somehow all the lower edges are in reasonably good shape. I feel these factory seams can still be saved on this car. The worst rust is on the driver’s side C-pillar, lower driver’s quarter and near door hinges on driver’s side. I’m sure there is some bondo on the car around door jams and windshield. Trunk is still usable but has some rust. Underside of the car looks to be solid. Some of the undercoat had peeled and had surface rust so I added some rust reformer to keep moisture out. Overall, it’s in pretty good shape for being in a high humidity area. We uncovered an interesting semi-circular patch in the center of the lower quarter on the driver’s side where all the bubbling is. But somehow the lower edge and trunk extensions and welded lower seam are clean.  The interior is in excellent shape with a Rimblow (needs repair), rallye gauges, perfect dash pad and nice original style upholstery. The headliner is in good shape, but the carpet will probably need replacing. There is a haze of rust on some of the gauge faces due to the humidity when the car was in storage. Three years ago, I got a call from the garage stating that the gas tank was leaking, so I ended up pulling the tank. This has not been replaced, but I did buy a replacement tank and straps which are included. The engine bay is in good shape and is minus the original air conditioning set up. To speed up getting the car on the road in 2006, I bought a completely rebuilt 440, which I believe is a mid to late 70’s RV or truck motor. It’s not built to performance specs but ran perfectly. It is topped with a 4bbl Carter carburetor which I believe is the correct one for an automatic with a/c and the model year. It will need to be rebuilt. After 10 or so years of inactivity, I put a battery in the car and it immediately sprung to life on the first key turn and ran until the gas in the lines and carb ran out. I have a video of that. I replaced all suspension parts back in 2005 and had a new ‘Cuda TTI exhaust. I removed the resonators sometime around 2008. Brakes will need to be redone, as they are non-responsive.Grille and trim look to be complete. Bumpers are straight but peeling. The car could be driven as is, and I would love to see it researched and rebuilt to spec. I tied to find more of its history, but never got far. This was twenty years ago, and possibly things have changed, and records could be more accessible. With the ‘Cuda you will receive the original block and heads with purchase. They have been kept inside since I purchased the car but need restoration. According to research I’ve done, only 1061 ‘Cudas were built with a/c in 1971. No record of how many were big blocks. Clean NJ title. Car will not be able to be driven from my location, so a trailer is needed. $1000non-refundable deposit due 3 days after auction ends and car must be paid in full and removed no more than 7 days after auction end. I have turned down serious offers from out of the US, as I would like to see it stay here if possible. Questions? Just ask. I have a folder of more pictures I can send to anyone interested. Video available as well of the car running on first start. Extra photos available on Instagram @myfish1971. Don’t need to sell but would love to see it go to an owner who wants to put it back on the road. Good luck!

These are the options the past owner said were with the car. Not proof, just forwarding.
