This is a documented and well sorted out 1974 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, Medium Blue exterior and Dark Blue interior. L-48 engine. 3-speed automatic transmission. True dual exhaust with no factory catalytic converters. Clean and clear Arizona title solely in my name. I have the original sales invoice where the car was purchased in Kansas City, Missouri in 1974 before making the trip to Phoenix, Arizona in 1977 where it has resided ever since. Being a southwest car, there is no rust scale or rot. The birdcage and frame are solid. Comes with a set of door and ignition keys and the original owner’s manual. To the best of my knowledge, I am the 3rd owner and have had the car since January of 2021. The previous owner that I purchased the car from had the engine and transmission rebuilt at approximately 90,000 miles and repainted it. I have many receipts and over the last 3 and a half years, I’ve invested over $13,000 and a few thousand hours in this car. Below is a description of all the major components of the car and their condition. If there is something that I missed or any potential buyer needs additional information, don’t hesitate to contact me. I am describing the car as accurately as possible so there are no surprises. Almost all the work listed below has been completed during my ownership. The reason I’m selling is I need the space in my garage.
Engine; GM 350 L-48 engine. 102,960 miles (mileage may go up slightly due to driving). Engine rebuilt at approximately 90,000 miles. Edelbrock performer cam and lifters. Melling oil pump. Edelbrock 1406 carburetor with electric choke. Aluminum intake manifold. Intake manifold gasket, valve covers, distributor, front cover, and rear main seals replaced. New drive belts. Full tune up performed (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, and timing). New pcv valve. Most factory emissions control systems such as the EGR, TCS, and heat riser have been removed and engine tuned accordingly. Passed Arizona emissions in 2021. Oil pressure is 60-70psi when cold and 35-40psi when hot. Engine oil changed twice a year, regardless of mileage with Valvoline VR1 and a Wix filter. New under hood insulation with correct clips.
Cooling System; Cold Case aluminum radiator. New 180 degree thermostat and housing seal. New fan clutch. New upper and lower hoses with a new AC Delco water pump. Flushed and filled with fresh green Prestone. New radiator and fan shroud seals. Even in 110+ Arizona heat, the car runs between 190-200 degrees.
Fuel system; Fuel tank, sending unit, and pump have been replaced. Rubber supply and return hoses replaced. New Edelbrock fuel filter.
Transmission; Turbo-Hydromatic 350 rebuilt when the engine was at approximately 90,000 miles. New vacuum modulator and pan gasket. Shifts nice, firm, and smooth with no slippage. Replaced transmission interlock cable.
Differential; No noise or chatter. Nice and smooth even at 80mph. Fluid drained and refilled with the AC Delco posi-additive.
Drivetrain; Replaced half shafts and u-joints.
Brakes; Brand new o-ring calipers, rotors, pads, and brake hoses on all 4 wheels. Rotor runout does not exceed 0.03. Newer power brake booster and master cylinder. Pedal is high and firm. No pulsating. Emergency brake shoes were replaced, and cable adjusted.
Steering; New power steering cylinder, hoses, and steering ram. New pressure and return power steering hoses. New rag joint and serviced steering box. I chose a smaller steering wheel from a 76+ since it is much easier for me to get in and out of and gives more room to work on the interior.
Wheels & Tires; Spare tire tub and straps have been refinished. All four tires were replaced in January of 2021 and have just over 2,800 miles on them. Rear wheel bearings were replaced by the previous owner. New front wheel bearings and races. Recent 4-wheel alignment performed by a professional shop.
Suspension; Adjustable QA1 550lb front coil overs. AC Delco rear shocks. Rear leaf spring bushings, cups, and washers replaced. Snubber bumper bushing replaced. Rear trailing arm bushings were done by the previous owner. New front sway bar bushings and end links. New control arm bump stops. Rear strut rods have also been replaced.
Birdcage and Frame; This car has spent nearly all its life in AZ and has no rust holes, scale, or rot.
Headlights; Headlight vacuum system has been completely replaced with new correct color coded lines, fittings, actuators, seals, vacuum relays, check valve, and filter. Headlight buckets lubed and properly adjusted to be flush with the body, as per manufacture specs. A new headlight bypass switch was also installed. Low and high beams work as they should.
Exhaust; No leaks. Last year for factory dual exhaust with no catalytic converters. New manifold and donut gaskets.
Glass; No cracks in any of the glass and the windshield was professionally replaced in 2023. Side windows crank up and down.
A/C & Heat; Originally a factory AC car, but due to its non-original parts, multiple refrigerant leaks in all components, and the fact that I wanted more room to work inside the engine compartment, I removed them (compressor, accumulator, lines). I have all the factory A/C compressor brackets which are hard to find and those are included with the car. It is ready for either Vintage air or to have the original system put back in. Heater core was replaced by the previous owner and doesn’t leak. Due to there being no factory way to stop the Arizona heat from coming into the cabin, the core was gently blown out with compressed air and capped off, ready to be put back into service. The blower motor and relay are new.
Exterior; The person I bought the car from had it repainted in 2011 to the factory Medium Blue color. Paint is in very good condition. Some minor imperfections/light scratches from being driven. The previous owner touched up two areas on the driver’s side door as seen in the pictures. All badges are in very good condition. All exterior bulbs, except the headlights, are LED. Fiberglass front and rear bumpers.
Convertible Top; Very good condition. Operation and latching are easy and smooth.
Interior; Courtesy and center gauge bulbs converted to LED. No rips, tears, or holes anywhere in the interior. Seats were removed and tracks cleaned up, painted, and lubed. No cracks in the dash pad. Carpet and mats are in good condition.
Battery & Charging System; Interstate battery is 1.5 years old. Newer alternator with dual groove pulley. Battery has a quick disconnect and it is typically left on a tender to maintain optimal charge. Starter replaced with a new NAPA unit approximately 8 years ago.
Interior Mechanical; All gauges work as they should, even the clock. However, the constant 12v to the clock was used to power the new radio. I did not feel right tapping off the factory harness and do not use the clock since the battery is disconnected it’s parked. Electric flasher for turn signals and hazards to ensure proper operation. Optional tilt/telescoping steering wheel. Horn works. Upper speedometer cable replaced. New solid hood release cable. The ever-troublesome seatbelt interlock system has been bypassed so you don’t have to worry about it malfunctioning and being stranded.
Radio; Custom Auto Sound USA-740 AM/FM radio with Bluetooth, USB, and dual (front & back) AUX capability. Factory dash speakers replaced and additional 5” speakers mounted behind the kick panels.

On Jul-28-24 at 21:15:46 PDT, seller added the following information:REVISED 7/28; There is a typo in the item description. The transmission is a TH400 and not a TH350. I also have paperwork showing a 2500rpm stall convertor and mild shift kit was installed at the same time.
