1970 Formula Firebird.
I bought her in 2022 for 10k and had her shipped in FromGeorgia. 2 owner car, left to sit for along time.
True Formula, PHS documented. Originally Atoll Blue With a vinyl top. Factory AC Car, which goes with but is notinstalled. Original 12 bolt and AutoTH400 transmission. I registered inVermont with transferable registration in my name. Car is in Springfield Oregon – 97478 zipcode.
The motor is not original, but period correct. 1968 WT Code GTO 400 360 HP motor w/ the #16heads. Has an edlebrock manifold and carb. New Plugs, New Wires, New fuel pump, the distributor has been swappedover from a points style to a HEI style. New starter, and new aluminum radiator. Mechanically, the engine issolid, runs great. Car drives, and shifts as she should, and hasthe torque and power one would expect from a pre smog, high compression Pontiacmotor. I’ve not driven her much, justaround the block and down the street a few times, as she was intended to be my long-termproject car to build with my grandfather. Unfortunately, he passed away, and it’s been very overwhelming for me.
Since I purchased her, I have put untold hours and severalthousand dollars in parts.
Firstly, the entire subframe has been fully rebuilt. All disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt withquality parts. The factory control armswere sandblasted, recoated with por 15, new bushings, new ball joints, new swaybar bushings, new rotors, calipers, pads, wheel bearings and new front shocks. Entire subframe, suspension, and front brakesare new and ready to go.
Rear Brakes were also changed out, new drums, shoes, andhardware. New rear shocks, but the leafsprings are original and need replacement. Rear tires are new Cobra Radials – 295 50 15s. Front tires are old butwork as rollers.
The floorboards were all cut out, and new AMD panels werewelded in, including the Driver’s side floor brace. Then pan were then seamsealed and then por 15 used.
The rear package tray was rusty, so was cut out and replacedand fully welded in, including new shoulders. The upper deck panel was cut and replaced as well.
The trunk pan and tail panel were both rusty, so have beencut out, and new panels are roughed in. I intended to change the quarter panels as well, as they are rusty. However, I can no longer complete thisproject due to health, life, and attending law school full time. Since I wasn’t going to be able to doquarters, I used sheet metal screws to temporarily hold the new trunk floor, new tail panel, and gas tank straps to get her able to drive onto atrailer. So, this is very much still aproject car, but a lot of work has been done already. Needs quarters upper cowl, roof skin, doorskins, as well as interior.
