1 Owner 1979 Mercury Capri RS 302 with Performance Upgrades
Up for sale is this very unique Capri RS with only 5080 miles. As a labor of love it was professionally built to a very high level of performance capability although it has never been used for competition. It has only been used for car shows and cruises.
The motor is original to the car but has been completely rebuilt to a high standard with quality performance parts. This engine was completely torn down at a precision machine shop and put back together in blueprinted fashion with all upgraded components down to every bearing and stud. Chrome trim was used lavishly to add eye appeal as well as muscle.
Although this car was built for show it has also been constructed to make very impressive horsepower. The suspension has also been upgraded for improved handling and braking. It runs on racing fuel and is definitely not a shrinking violet, as can be seen in the embedded video with the engine running.
The parts were sourced from top suppliers like Bennett Racing for Stage 2 TFS-A Heads, Cam and more. A Holley 4779S double pumper carb came from The Carburetor Shop in Ontario California set up for this application with NOS. The intake manifold is an Edelbrock Victor Jr. Many parts came from Summit Racing including an 8.8 Rear End with 4:10 gearing and a 31 spline kit. Also from Summit are Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers that are fitted with 3” electric cutouts. The cooling is upgraded with a Performance Aluminum Radiator and the suspension has been improved in many areas. A Ford M-5300-C Super Sports handling spring kit, aluminum caster/camber kit and stainless control arms are installed as well as heavy duty brake rotors with Red Stuff Ceramic pads. Receipts are included for most parts used in this build.
The car is located in Clarksburg WV 26301. E-mail any questions or call Jeff at (304)290-8708 (no calls after 8:00 pm EDT, please).
There is a clear title in the owner’s name ready to transfer to the new owner. Terms of sale are payment in full with certified funds within 7 days from end of the auction.
There is much more to the story of this very special Capri. Please check out the photos and the embedded YouTube video for a comprehensive view of the vehicle. You will note many more items than mentioned in the description, as this build is intended to be complete in every detail. All of the parts used are top of the line and the work is all first rate. As I mentioned previously this build was a labor of love to create a head turner with all the right stuff.
There is no warranty either stated or implied on this vehicle and shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer.
