West Coast Classics are proud to present an exceptional example of this beautifully restored some years ago 1935 Ford Model 48 2 Door Deluxe 'Slantback' V8 Tudor Touring Sedan.
The 1935 Ford was a thorough refresh on the popular V8 powered Ford. The 4 cylinder engine was no longer offered, leaving just the 221 cu in (3.62 L) V8 to power every Ford car and truck. The transverse leaf spring suspension remained, but the front spring was relocated ahead of the axle to allow more interior volume. The body was lowered and new "Center-Poise" seating improved comfort. Visually, the 1935 Ford was much more modern with the grille pushed forward and made more prominent by de-emphasized and more-integrated fenders, reflecting modern Art Deco influences.
A major advance was a true integrated trunk on "trunkback" sedans, though the traditional, and now very desirable and collectible, "flatback" aka Slantback was also offered. Outdated body styles like the Victoria were also deleted for the year. The Deluxe version upgrades included dual horns, chrome windshield, right side tail light and paint on the dash and window moldings along with other minor differences, so it can be hard to be positive that a restored car started out as a Deluxe.

Recently acquired from a local and long term private collectionThe wooden panels were manufactured at the Ford Iron Mountain Plant in the Michigan Upper Peninsula from Ford owned lumber.
Two trim lines were offered, standard and DeLuxe, across a number of body styles including a base roadster, five-window coupe, three-window coupe, Tudor and Ford or sedans in flatback/slantback or trunkback versions, a convertible sedan, a woody station wagon, and new Model 51 truck. The rumble seats were optional on coupe model. An oil pressure gauge (costing $4) and two windshield wipers were optional also. If one got the optional radio, it replaced the ash tray.
All of the restoration work was completed some years ago and it has been kept in a climate controlled garage since. The rare 'Slantback' sedan body is very straight with excellent panel fit.
A distinctive respray was professionally applied and is in very good condition. Chrome is outstanding with accents that include the classic 'V8' hood ornament, dual horns and dual mirrors. A black grain vinyl 'closed car top' roof is in excellent condition and set of bright Red 16 spoke wheels with chrome V8 caps with wide-white Coker tires completes the exterior package.
The interior is showing an older restoration in a handsome Gray cloth with a Black metal dash which is excellent with working factory gauges, classic banjo wheel and cowl vent.
This Ford is powered by a rebuilt 221ci flathead that outputs 85bhp and runs smooth as silk with a recent full service by our local mechanics. Behind the flathead, the 3-speed manual transmission has the factory floor mounted shifter. Mechanical drum brakes handle stopping requirements and the 6-volt electrical system performs very well.
Recent service history at our local mechanic includes electronic ignition installed, new distributor, and ignition coil, replace spark plugs, change all fluids & oil, new 6 volt battery, overhauled carburetor, new fuel filter, overhauled starter, replaced fuel tank, added electric fuel pump along side 6 volt mechanical fuel pump; (Cost $6,512.56)
You will look long and hard to find a finer example of this very desirable and rare 1935 Ford Deluxe Slantback Tudor 2 Door Touring sedan which would prove to be an excellent addition to your garage or early Ford collection.
