Runs great, fun to drive, and gets a lot of compliments. Starts up easy, runs smooth, good power, power steering, power brakes, has no issues driving in heavy CA beach traffic. Has many updates - please see below for details.
Truck:
Scout II, original 345 engine, 727 automatic transmission, Dana 44 axles front and rear, Dana 20 transfer case, power steering, and power brakes. Two sets of keys for the ignition and doors.Includes original top in good condition, bulk head separator, spare tire/cover, and a bikini top.
Original steel half cab top.Very rare, only 3% of Scout II’s were sold with the half cab top.A Scout II wagon top can be used, however the half cab top is easier to remove, smaller, lighter, and easier to store. Ideal if you run it without the top.
Engine:
Starts up easily cold or hot, runs smooth.Since the truck is a 1974 and is smog exempt, it has no smog equipment to slow it down, no hassles with outdated smog equipment, no smog test costs.Recent updates (last 3-4 years):
Oil change with new filter.
new carburetor.
New gas tank, new sender, and fuel lines.
New fuel pump and filter
New thermostat, fan, belts and thermostat housing was recently cleaned and replaced with new gaskets.
New water pump.
New battery.
New starter.
New plugs and plug wires.
New cap and rotor.
New distributor.
Rebuilt power steering pump.
Resealed power steering box.
New power steering high pressure hose.
New power steering low pressure hose.
New power steering belt.
New throttle cable.
New Shifter cable.
New U-Joint in drive shaft.
Transmission/ Transfer see
727 transmission shifts well and has no issues.Recently, the seals were replaced, truck does not leak.Transfer case works, goes into 4 hi/low, N, and 2 hi easily.
Interior:
Seat was reupholstered with International logo black vinyl (see 2nd to last picture). The blanket style front seat cover is on over top of the IH black vinyl upholstery.
New tunnel cover, new glove box, new shifter boots.
Gauges all work except the oil pressure gauge (oil pressure sending unit is not connected).
Two speed windshield wipers work
Lights work, turn signals, gauge lights, and the light in the shifter housing works.
Stereo with bluetooth and CD.
IH floor mats front and back.
Exterior:
Previous owner had the truck repainted a slightly darker version of the original beige.The paint is ok, not great, looks ok a few feet away but was not a high quality paint job.Has blemishes, few small dents, scrapes where top rests, etc. Appears the rockers were replaced when the truck was painted.
Previous owner lined the bed and floor with POR 15 sealer. We also added a removable rubber bed cover mat.
Top is in good condition and in storage (see last picture - rims and tires have changed since the picture).
Also included is the bulk head separator in very good condition (see 3rd to last pic), which goes behind the rear seat if the top is put back on.
Brakes:
Brakes work great, recent work done:
New Master Cylinder
New Brake booster
New proportioning valve
Refurbished brake calipers
New soft brake lines in all 3 locations.
New rear wheel cylinders.
Wheels/Suspension:
Original Scout Rallye rims.The chrome was bad and flaking so a shop sandblasted them and then they were powder coated satin black.
BFG KO2 A/T tires are 3 years old and like new.
Previous owner put a 4” shackle lift on all around.
