2 Owner Florida car
History:
Guy I bought it from got it from his Aunt who purchased it new in 1970. He acquired the car in 1995 and completely disassembled it at his body shop .He pulled the entire drivetrain, interior, fenders , doors, trunk lid, front/rear glass, and wiring. He bagged and tagged everything. He then media blasted the entire car except exterior sheet metal. There's no undercoating or seam sealer anywhere so there's nothing to hide. This is an honest car. The floors (inside and out) frame rails, torque boxes, rocker panels, trunk area, firewall(inside and out) fender aprons all perfect original sheet metal that was coated with epoxy primer back in 1997
The car was reassembed, in went the 289, with the 65 GT350 top end (intake+heads) 65 - 4 speed toploader close ratio hipo 289 trans. New master cylinder, all new brake lines, brake hoses, all new correct mounting hardware. New fuel lines, hoses and fuel tank. New front / rear suspension including leaf springs and bilstein shocks in the rear. Global west tubular upper A Arms up front , new lower A arm and balljoints, Edelbrock shocks and Shelby1" lowering front springs. New radius arm , swaybar and leafspring bushings. All new steering components including steering box, tie rods inner /outer, center link, pitman, and idler arm. New Hooker headers, new dual exhaust with all new and correct brackets. All new clutch linkage from clutch pedal to the trans. New radiator.
In 2024, the car got a complete mechanical and cosmetic going through. New brakes , wheel cylinders and hardware. New fuel system including tank, sender, fuel pump , and fuel hoses. Engine got fresh oil and filter, (10w30 synthetic w zddp) new felpro valve cover gaskets, motorcraft spark plugs, all new motorcraft hoses, radiator flush, brake fluid flush , new 80/90w in the trans and rear. New voltage regulator, starter solenoid, optima red top battery, and new ford tooled fan shroud.
The body got new front and rear bumpers, new taillight bezels, front and rear marker light bezels, reverse light assys ,front parking light assys, new gas cap, new outside door handles, new boomerang (quarter window) moldings, and new rear window stainless. All exterior sheet metal is factory except for the new hood . There's light surface rust under the car ( from being in an unheated garage the past 25 years and the primer not being topcoated.) When you run your hand over it you can't feel it and it comes off with a scuff pad but should be addressed.
Interior
Original black high back bucket seats / rear seats , door panels / armrests all in excellent condition.(seats are in amazing original condition- no cracks or wear) The dashpad is new (ford tooling ) set up for a/c , new shelby gt350 repro steering wheel with working horn, new printed dash circuit board and dash voltage regulator. New hurst shifter handle and ball ,new rear view mirror, turn signal arm, and heater knobs
Four new magnum 500 wheels dated 1992 and stamped made in the usa (nos) with four new goodyear eagle(nos) tires
Car had one repaint in 1989 (original red car/black interior)
According to the Marti report 1 / 272 with these paint / trim options
All the gaps are excellent (see pics) / Doors open and close like new or better
There's a dent on drivers door . The only body filler on the car is on the driver's quarter rear wheel lip and lower quarter
Car comes with two new quarter panels, two trunk drop offs and left inner wheel house(needs a small patch) . Passenger quarter needs two small lower patches. Both doors need small patches on the bottom outside corners. Drivers fender needs lower patch (included)
Car starts right up and runs great
I drove it yesterday ,7/26, about 25 miles on the highway (see video) I had it up to 75 mph. Engine runs strong with plenty of power. There's no taps, noises, no smoke, or leaks. Trans shifts smoothly up/down all four gears, no noises, grinding or leaks. (clutch grabs a little past half way) Brakes are good , steering is good, suspension is good. Exhaust system has no leaks.
I believe the short block has the 289 hipo cam but can't confirm. Nice sounding cam.
