1962 Dodge 300/like D100 Powerwagon
'62 Sweptline Dump Truck - NO Reserve
Clean Kansas Title
Up for grabs to the highest bidder is this beautiful '62 Dodge with no rust and only 62K miles, this truck is ready to be the workhorse on your farm or wherever you need it for years to come.
First off, this is the pickup (D300) which is the same as the D100 & D200, not the larger trucks that you see more often. It is about the same size as a modern day regular cab, long bed pickup. It is easy to haul home on a trailer, and easy to drive and get around in. It has 16 inch tires which are readily available and reasonably priced. It also has a slant 6 and a four speed transmission, and if you have ever had one, you know they are about as tough as an anvil, they last forever. This one fires right up and sounds great (it does have an exhaust leak at the donut gasket on the manifold) it doesn't' smoke, it doesn't overheat. All the gauges work even the gas gauge! This truck was stored in the barn for a couple of years without running - so the carb could use a little work, it likes a little choke to stay running.
I was told this was a one family owned truck. The farm equipment was sold when the original owner's son passed away, so I didn't get a lot of history, but I was told that he ordered this truck new in '62, and either the factory or dealership goofed up on the color. He ordered a red truck, and they sent him a yellow one. He refused it until they agreed to paint it, so it got its current paint job before it ever left the dealership! Boy times have changed.
This is a beautiful, straight truck overall. You can tell it spent most of its life inside, out of the weather. There is one small spot with some bubbles on one door, but rust free otherwise. This might be the first sweptline I've seen with no rust in rockers or steps. The paint has peeled a bit on driver side floor from master cylinder leaking over the years, but floors are rock solid. You won't find one much better than this that is original. All the glass is good, the doors shut like new, the windows go up & down very nice, the steering is tight. I installed a new master cylinder for the hydraulic clutch. I had to add fluid to the brake master cylinder, and they pumped up nice, but that may need some attention in the future. Maybe the best thing about the truck is the PTO operated dump bed, and it works great. It will dump anything you can pile on it with ease.
I have tried to list everything I know about this truck, but have probably missed something. Please understand that it had been in storage for some time prior to me acquiring it. You should expect to spend a day or 2 sorting things out. It will need serviced - oil change, etc. I have not checked all the lights, brakes work but should be checked over, etc. - Please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172 with any questions. I love to talk about old trucks. I am a licensed Kansas Dealer, which means I am bonded and insured, also please check my feedback from lots of old trucks, no disappointments, and I am fine with it setting here as long as you need, free of charge, to arrange transport, as long as it is paid for. Thanks, and good luck!
