Vehicle Details

This is my 67 Pontiac Firebird convertible. I have posted a walk around video on You Tube. https://youtu.be/S8RoGE_GWko?si=6LgZTjg0zQoYG_k- I purchased the car in 1974 when I was in high school. It started life as a 326 4 speed car. I have driven and have been working on this car ever since. I am a recently retired professional auto mechanic technician for 47 years. I have been restoring cars for almost as long. Many have come and gone including 3 other firebirds, but this was my first other than a couple of Volkswagen's. Of all the cars I have owned this is the one I could never sell. I am very meticulous, and this has always been like therapy to me that I enjoy as a labor of love. I have built this car myself slowly over the years and completed it about 12 years ago. It has had a new floor pan, new GM front fenders and rear quarter panels that I bought from GM in the 80's when I worked for Cadillac. It is a well sorted car that I still look for things to make it better and have been obsessed. I am now almost 67 and think its time to pass it on and make room in my garage for other projects. I took it off the road in the early 80'S and began a full restoration and has been in my garage ever since. I started with building a 71 Pontiac grand prix 400 with #16 heads and intake from a 68 gto. I had so many of these engines and cars back then and used the best parts I had at the time. All the specs were chosen and parts were purchased as recommended by Nunzi the Pontiac guru. Including porting the heads with stainless swirl polished valves, mild Competiton cam. lifters and springs. Rollmaster double roller timing chain and a Melling high volume oil pump. It has reproduction RAR factory long branch exhaust manifolds and a Magnaflow stainless exhaust system coupled to a brand new Auto Gear m22w 4 speed transmission with a new Hurst competition plus shifter. It has the rare stronger 10 bolt 8.5" 3:36 posi trac rearend with new spring perches to accommodate the Hotchkiss multi leaf 2" lowering rear springs with heavy duty spring plates. It has it's original factory traction bars. It has Koni clasic adjustable shocks and a close ratio power steering box with new pump, hoses and a front mounted cooler. It has a 4 row aluminum radiator with the original Pontiac clutch fan with a new clutch. Also a flowcooler roller water pump. All major electrical has been replaced and runs an updated 100 amp alternator. It has a modified tuned quadrojet carb with a high volume fuel pump and new lines, gas tank and sender. All fuel lines covered with heat shield around the engine and near tank in rear. Pontiacs are known for hard starting hot so I have avoided that with oversize #2 gauge battery cables I custom made with complete heat shielding on it with a new starter wrapped with a thick heavy duty heat wrap used on commercial bus exhaust. It uses a PerTronix ignition with a new coil. It has all new power brakes and hoses with disk brakes on the front. Offset upper control arm shafts for perfect front end alignment and drive very tight with no body roll and a smooth ride. Halogen sealed beam headlights and a lazer straight body with Spies Hecker 2 stage black paint. The darkest black made called blue black. The wheels are 14x7 from a 71 Grand Prix that have a deep polished stainless trim ring unlike most Pontiac rally wheels you will see. It has new front and rear bumpers and polished original stainless trim. The interior, top frame and engine compartment is painted with SEM specialty trim paint. I installed a new top and pads and the power top works fast and perfect. I have a new tonneau cover that I never used. New interior with a complete upolstery set from classic industries. The seats have track extenders for taller people and more leg room. It has a trunk carpet and Dynomat on the trunk floor to keep the sound down when the top is up. It has a retro radio that has bluetooth. It has twin speakers in the original dash spot and a subwooffer under the drivers seat with a volume control for it mounted under the dash. This is a car that you will not have to do anything to and is very well sorted and feels and sounds wonderful. As a fast car that sounds mean it's actually set up so well that it's not that bad on gas. I can take it out east and drive it around most of the day on a half a tank of fuel. It is very tight like new with no squeaks or rattles and will bring trouble free happiness for the new owner for years to come. New York does not use a Title on this year car. It has a transferable registration.
