Vehicle Details

Clean New Mexico Title, registered and insured. The odometer does not accurately show the mileage, (rolled over, showing 107,800+) it is actually much less as the 4.10 rear end gearing will cause the odometer to spin faster than what would be correct. My estimate is closer to 90,000 miles on the chassis. The engine was swapped in place of the older 304 two years ago with less than 50,000 miles on the engine, in Elizabeth, Colorado. The CJ5 was recently polished, Oil has been changed, fluids are being monitored as they should, and the carburetor has been tuned by vacuum guage.

Exterior

As one would expect from a Jeep from New Mexico, the car overall body is in exceptional shape. Such a clean original, all metal body with no hidden bodywork is absolutely foreign to New England. The undercarriage is spectacular, with a solid floor and clean frame. The exterior shows that it has been thoroughly enjoyed, taken across all terrain, yet properly protected and maintained, and above all was garage kept. It sports a Bestop Supertop and doors that are less than 2 years old. The center panel recieved a tear from a broken garage door, and is replaceable without the whole top being replaced for <$180, via Bestop Part #235.16P. It is ready for your next open air adventure, and to embark on an epic journey to its 4th National Park with a commander behind the wheel!

Interior

The interior flooring has been Rhino-Lined, to give under foot traction, keep the metal protected against the elements, and uphold the rugged look. Matching with the top are Bestop Trailmax II Low-back seats, to include a rear bench seat. Hard to miss is the Real (and inert) Mk II Grenade, as the most fitting shift knob for a vehicle that has its historical roots in military service. This 1977 CJ5 was owned by a retired Aircraft Weapons Maintainer and currently maintained and owned by an F-16 Crew Chief. It has lived on three military bases, and is more than a weekend warrior; It is a blacktop bomber stoplight to stoplight, and can climb some of the toughest mountains without breaking a sweat.

Engine

When you hear and see it coming over the hill, there’s no question it is more than stock. It is still American Motors Company-Powered with a 360 cubic inch, 5.9 Liter V8, With less than 60,000 miles on its stout rebuild. Its HEI ignition system will light your fire. It’s easy to sleep on something less aerodynamic than a cow. However when it weighs a mere 2400 pounds, this thing hooks and books. It’s got a factory Manual 3-Speed T-150 Transmission. Those three speeds are here, there, and gone! MPG? The cammed 360 doesn’t know what that is. And it doesn’t matter, the amount of smiles-per-gallon at more than 1000:1. The front Dana 30 Differential and AMC 20 rear differential have a 4.10:1 Gear ratio with Lock-Right Lockers, delivering all the absurd torque through wider G-2 1 Piece Chromoly Axle Shafts, built wide for a CJ7. Power Steering has been added, with a heavy-duty Power Steering Bracket to support off-roading. The Drop Pitman Arm is ready to support a higher lift or new shocks. This is one mean vehicle than you just have to hear it in person. Don’t let it pass you by! Trust me, getting passed by in a Jeep is embarrassing, It’s time for you to take charge and drive this real-steel, bomb proof 4WD Hotrod.
