Restoration project - a true “barn find.” This car has been stored covered in an enclosed garage for the past 30+ years. I bought this car in 1986 while in college with the intent to someday complete the restoration - then life took over.
When I bought it, this car ran and I regularly drove it. The previous owner installed a new convertible top, reupholstered the interior, and carpet. If I recall correctly, I was chasing down minor electrical problems, which is why the door panels are off and the fuse block is hanging down. This car is well optioned with factory electric front seat, power windows, and power top (the hydraulics worked when it was parked). The dash and dash top are in very good condition.
As far as I can tell, the body has not been in any accidents or suffered collision damage. Overall, it’s in good shape and a great restoration starting point. Much bodywork has been completed, but some not very well. Typical rust areas need to be properly redone. I have many trim pieces, but not everything. Bumpers can probably be straightened and re-chromed. Please review the pictures carefully and ask if you need additional details.
Door plate research turned up the following:
Body: 76A - 2dr conv, bench seat
Color: P - antique bronze (or medium palomino metallic)
Trim: 6D
Date: 28K - 28Oct1965
D.S.O: 71 - District Sales Office Los Angeles, CA
Axle: 1 - 3.00:1, non-locking
Trans: 7 - FX Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed auto
California car - it had air injection that the previous owner removed, and plugged exhaust exhaust manifold ports. It is dual exhaust, but the mufflers and tailpipes are missing. Although this car ran when parked 34 years ago, it has spent many winters in an unheated garage. When I moved the car for pictures, one core plug from the passenger side of the engine was on the floor. If I had the time I would pull the engine for a rebuild, but unfortunately I'm losing the garage space.
This car has had rodent squatters over the past 30+ years. I have cleaned and sanitized, but it definitely needs a deep clean and new carpet.
The odometer shows 17,378. I don't have any previous information or history of this car, so do not know if the recorded mileage is original or the odometer has turned over (I suspect the latter).
I recently put on a full set of Hankook Kinergy 215/75R15 tires (including spare) so the car can be moved. My intent was to get it running and moveable under its own power, but I’m losing garage space and will not achieve that goal.
I only have the (square) Ford ignition key. I cannot find the round door/trunk key.
Clean Oregon title in my name. Includes a reproduction factory shop manual. Serious buyers may contact me with questions and I will provide as much detail/information/pictures as I can. Note - I do not live where this car is stored, so I might not be able to respond immediately.
The buyer is responsible for pick up and transport, I will provide assistance as I can. Thank you-
