? 1968 Retired CHP POLARA for Sale ?

Up for sale is this super rare, retired 1968 CHP POLARA with the ORIGINAL CHP LIVERY. This is likely one-of-one in the world with the original CHP paint scheme. After being purchased, two layers of paint were painstakingly removed to expose the remnants of the CHP livery underneath. The vehicle comes with the original matching numbers engine and transmission (both REBUILT), loads of other new parts, and used, to complete the restoration. It also has several components of the original CHP equipment to restore it back to its in-service glory.

The vehicle comes with a TON of history, documents, photos, and more. The following components have been rebuilt, replaced, or restored after the car was torn down to prepare for restoration back to its CHP glory:  The engine was rebuilt by a local shop with no expense spared, with the old parts saved. The transmission was also rebuilt locally with the old parts saved. The dash pad pieces were restored back to black and reinstalled. The gas tank, sending unit, and filler neck was replaced with a new one. The radiator was re-cored. A new distributor with electronic ignition was sourced. A new carb was sourced. Lots of good used trim pieces, window cranks, door panels, etc. were sourced for the restoration. Front disc brakes were located to replace the hard to rebuild drum brakes. Some new suspension components were purchased and some used ones as well, like a good torsion bar to replace the slightly bent one. The floor pan was cut out and replaced, with some finishing touches needed to weld it in and seal it. A rear window was sources and ready for replacement. The front windshield is not cracked. All other windows are intact, with the window regulators needed to be gone through to loosen them up. They will roll up and down though. New steelie wheels and caps were allocated. Front grill components, trim pieces for the body, and new rear taillight pieces have been located. New flooring has been purchased. The car is complete, just needs to be put back together. There is minimal rust on the body, limited to a small chunk in the trunk (with a replacement piece ready to fit in) and some on the bottom of one of the doors. The harness was tested and all the factory lighting works.

The following CHP equipment was located: The original style radio (actual CHP radio) and speaker, mechanical siren (RARE), Federal Signal siren speaker, the shotgun bracket, the rear deck lighting, the correct spotlights with white handles, and the extremely hard to find HUGE whip antenna with new antenna mount for the quarter panel. See the photos for more!
