This is a 1956 Corvette Dual Quad, Frame Off Restoration to NCRS standards.
The car was judged by the "Midway USA Chapter" on 7/13/2024. The car scored 92.9. Some point corrections have been made which would bring the score to 95.1 (Top Flight) including a pending switch of the authenticated numbers matching (3) speed transmission Please see the NCRS scoring summary (attached).
This car was purchased around 1990 and kept it in storage until 2010 when there restoration started. Most of the parts on this car are original restored with some N.O.S. and GM restoration parts.
The "rabbit ear" head castings are #3731762 with G code1956 date. The engine block is #3720991 with 0599865F56GR stamp pad as original. Exhaust manifold #3731557 LH and #3731558 RH. Intake manifold #3731394. Original rebuilt carburetors. #3705018 thermostat housing. The engine cold starts immediately with fast idle choke activating properly and idling down upon warm up. No exhaust leaks. Smooth engine running with slight lope due to cam similar to 1957 Duntov. Excellent throttle response; no hesitation with engine on acceleration; excellent performance. Correct, dated dual point distributor. O.E.M. coil and distributor cap. Dated radiator.
All new brakes, wheel bearings and lines. Brake master and wheel cylinders have stainless steel sleeves therefore no corrosion issues. Original rebuilt G1956 code, 3 speed transmission, #3845122 main case, #3722946 tail shaft, #3845157 side cover comes with car. Part numbers authenticated by NCRS. Muncie 4 speed is presently installed. Rear end third member casting #3707306 is May 1956. New gas tank with O.A.L. stamp. Fully functional wiper motor accurate to 56. Wipers actuate automatically with washer foot pump push as original. O.E.M. windshield washer fluid foot pump and washer bag and brackets all in good working order. Functional horn and original relay. Original horns #759 and #760 clamshells and brackets. All lights and turn signals, interior and exterior functional. Parking brake fully functional with alarm and original "tung sol" e brake flasher and bracket; rare items. All gages correct and fully operational. Heater and defroster fully functional original refurbished systems. Radio is a true 1956 original version fully functional. All new Al Knock interior, seats, carpet, kick panels, door panels. Original seat tracks . Door weatherstripping is not installed but comes with car. New dated windshield and door glass. Al knock dated convertible top. Original style cloth covered soft top window seals. GM restoration front and rear convertible top latches. GM-3723710 correct reproduction trunk mat. Original restored SJ4356 jack. Onyx black lacquer with silver coves. (1) gallon of unmixed onyx black paint available with car which equates to over (2) gallons of sprayable color.
Original unrestored hardtop and trim goes with car. The hardtop headliner could be glued and clamped in position as option for purchasing a new liner. A new rear window and the original rear window go with car. Note that this is an original 56 hardtop as the header bar is aluminum.
