I bought this car in May of 1974 when I was a young man of 20. I’am a young man of 70 now and it’s time for someone else to own this great piece of muscle car heritage.
When I registered this Corvette I transferred it to N.Y. from the California registration. I don’t remember what the mileage was but, I do remember when the odometer read 63,327.4 miles. I want to say it was 62 thousand and something. It was originally a 2 speed automatic with power steering and power brakes car. It was customized when I bought it. It had a molded on rear spoiler, flared wheel wells, non-stock wheels and tires, no front bumper, no drivers side view mirror, no rear tailpipe ports (filled with body filler) with tailpipes turned downward and non-stock blue paint. It also had a fully custom interior with instrument cluster, gauges, clock and radio all stock which it still has.
And of course me being a young motorhead back in the 70s, I did everything I could to gain horsepower. I pulled the motor, took it to the local speed shop and told them I wanted more horsepower. I took the power steering and power brakes off. I put headers and a big carburetor on. I did all the stuff a naive kid of twenty would do. Then I wanted to shift it so I pulled the 2 speed automatic out and put in a brand new 4 speed with a 5k/lb Zoom clutch. I also stripped it ( it’s never had any body panels replaced ) and painted it blue metal flake lacquer. These kinds of things were commonplace back in the 70s. My car was one of about 7 C2’s running around in my small town of around 40k not to mention all the other Chevy, Ford and Mopar muscle cars. It was a great time to be a young car nut.
I drove it summers only, up until fall of 1982 and then it went into storage until May of 2008 when I decided to put it back on the road. Long story short, during the process of getting it ready to go, a cylinder got scored and cracked. Back to the speed shop to see if we can save the block. Yes we can. So now the original block is bored and sleeved .40 over with 12:1 pistons and a Comp Thumper cam. Back on the road May of 2009. I drove it again in summers only occasionally until 2018 and it’s been in storage since.
Parts I have: the original 2 speed power glide automatic transmission, torque converter, flex plate and shifter, ignition shielding (3 pcs), power steering relay rod and control valve, not original to the car front bumper and brackets, exhaust manifolds, glovebox door and miscellaneous other parts.
This car needs: new front coil springs ( the left side one on it is broken) I have a new pair, new tires (the ones on it are 40+ yrs old) and a new exhaust (the current exhaust rattles on the center frame ports) and new headers (the ones on it have a hole on the passenger side ) I have a new pair of headers and I have a pair of stock exhaust manifolds.
I have a valid, clean NYS transferable registration in my name with numbers that match the vin plate. NYS did not issue titles for vehicles until 1973. I will accept cash on pick up or if you pay by check we will arrange pick up after the funds are in my bank account. Good luck, have fun bidding. bolicomaka@aol.com
