Up for sale is my ‘73 Corvette 454, 4 speed. This car is a head-turner and it is a blast to drive. Let me be clear, this is not a show car. It has a good 10 foot paint job and all the bells and whistles that a ‘73 could have, but she is a driver and is not perfect. I bought her 4 years ago as a “between dream cars play toy”, and she has served me well. It’s time for me to get my C7, but first I need to find Astra here a new home.

In my opinion there is no better look than a C3 with side pipes, so the first thing I did was install them. These things rock! They are loud! Maybe a bit on the obnoxious side. If that’s not your style, you can get muffler inserts to tame them a bit. Also, be careful of exiting with shorts on or you’ll get a nice side pipe tattoo….but you’ll only do that once.

The story as it was relayed to me was that the second owner’s second wife did not like the original orange color of this car, so it was painted blue. I guess she also didn’t like being hot while driving around, so an aftermarket A/C system was added. I added some chrome to the engine with valve covers and a 3” air cleaner.

This car is registered as an antique in PA, and the era-correct license plate is registered to the car and is included, as well as the repro inspection sticker for 1973. Insurance is about $200/yr and it never has to be inspected or have the registration renewed! That’s almost free fun!

If you’re looking for refined luxury, this car is not for you…but you probably wouldn’t be looking for a big block C3, either. It you’re looking for a fun car to drive to the car meets, gather lots of attention but not necessarily win trophies, this may be your car.
