I have owned this 1972 FJ55 for almost six years, during which time a substantial amount of mechanical and body restoration has been completed to make this vehicle a dependable, fun, and attractive daily driver.  It needs someone to "take it over the finish line."

It features a 2F engine, a disc brake front axle, and a four-speed transmission and transfer case. It has a rebuilt Aisin carb, factory intake, and exhaust manifolds. The entire electrical harness was replaced and every electrical function works. I planned for air-conditioning (someone else can finish that) and installed Vintage Air AC compressor/alternator mount with a brand new Sanden compressor. The truck received a brand new factory fuel pump, water pump, all belts, hoses, and thermostat. Power steering is provided by a Saginaw power steering pump, pulley, conversion hose, Toyota mini-truck steering box, and a custom FJ55 mount.  An AC Delco HEI module pairs well with the 1977 three screw small cap distributor and provides the electronic ignition.

The rear window actuator was rebuilt with a brand new gear and the window operates from both the dash and tailgate. There is some rear window weatherstripping missing.

A 1F air cleaner was adapted to the 2F motor to retain the original low profile hood. The third members were changed from the original 4.11:1 to 3.73:1. With the lower ratio diffs and the Kilmat, the vehicle is quite nice to drive and is relatively quiet. If the buyer prefers the original thirds, they are provided with the vehicle. Of course, both axles have been rebuilt with new bearings, seals, and brakes. The dash is uncracked and covered. The front seats appear to be from an FJ40 (w headrests). They are in nice shape except the seat covers have disintegrated from the heat. The vehicle has been kept in my garage since ownership.

It appears some body work and repaint was done before I owned it. The doors, rockers, and pillars are solid. The body looks "perfect from ten feet away". There are nicks and scratches. There are about ten places around the body where there are small paint "bubbles." There is a rust spot on the roof with scratches. I bought it as seen today with the exception that in my resto, I discovered several perforated spots in the floor. They were all cut out and replaced, the inside of the floor was painted with POR-15, and Kilmat was applied to floor, firewall, cargo area, and inside tailgate and doors. During the prior bodywork, it appears the rear body mounts were repaired. There are voids in those repairs that I used to flush dirt out and force POR-15 inside. Someone may choose to cut out and "repair the repair." The underside needs to be media blasted then coated with POR-15.

The vehicle sits on 31x10.50/15 LT tires with only 1000 miles but they are over six years old.  A brand new exhaust system from manifold to rear tire is included.  I have a set of rear reflectors to go with as well. A radio has been installed but there are no speakers.

The buyer will receive this very nice "55", a clear MS title in my name, and a bill of sale.

Thank you.
