For consignment, the idea of a compact car in the '60's and a facelift year for the model, a 1967 Dodge Dart GT. The GT was the top of the model line and included a list of standard options including the choice of 18 acrylic enamel exterior colors and a variety of foam compositions in the seats. Our white soft topped Dart presents very nicely and has arrived at the mall just in time for some summertime fun!
Exterior
At the front of this beautifully painted white car, a body width stainless grille centers two large parking lights between two larger headlights, a pristine chrome bumper and a silver on black trimmed "GT" emblem. Hood pins front the hood which also have mock vented power bulges. Multi faceted body panels, which add an unmistakable vintage flavor to the design, are detailed with correct stainless wheel moldings. The front quarter panel fender emblems combine with a belt line molding in white framed by chrome, perfectly complementing traditional chrome door handles and a stylish driver's mirror. The black canvas top is in great condition and retains a glass window. 14-inch Magnum 500 wheels provide a sporty look that differentiates it from base model Darts of the era. One low area of bubbling along with some inclusions in the paint are the notable flaws on the exterior.
Interior
In total beautiful black, the car's cockpit was correctly restored all the way down to its paneled door frames. The front bucket and rear bench seats are firm to the touch and feature correct black covers that show no signs of tear or separation. At the bottom of those seats, low pile black carpet is protected by stylish "Dart" branded floor mats, both in great condition. Between the seats, a factory correct console frames the factory shifter in bright chrome trim. The car's pristine padded dash hangs an old school horizontal speedometer beside a correct Dodge solid state AM radio. Under the dash we find an AM/FM/CD radio upgrade. In front of the driver is a leather wrapped three spoke steering wheel with a metal half horn ring. At the sides of the seats, fresh door panels hang new chrome hardware between straight stainless trim, Dart GT emblems and blemish free armrests. The trunk is also spotless and is covered with a period plaid mat and houses a steel wheeled spare tire.
Drivetrain
Under the bulged hood, a 225ci slant 6 cylinder engine resides, rated at 145 horsepower and fed by a 1-barrel carburetor. The engine bay is clean and enhanced by a polished valve cover. A Torqueflite A904 3-speed automatic transmission takes the car through its paces and drives power back to the 8.25 inch rear. Disc brakes are provided in the front with drums in the rear.
Undercarriage
Generally clean underneath with no major concerns. The leaf spring U-bolts are about the only thing that show prominent surface rust which is pretty remarkable. The exhaust off the slant six splits before it dives down, then two pipes travel into a pair of Flowmaster mufflers then make a beeline out the back via muscular square tailpipes. We note some residual oil wetting one of those split pipes near the oil pan. A polished rear differential cover adds some sparkle to the underside and to impresses those behind you.
Drive-Ability
Maybe not the muscle car its appearance would have you believe, but it is surprisingly spry for a 6 banger with a 1-barrel. A comfortable car and good runner, we note that everything functions as it should.
