1967 Samco/Glenn Pray 810 Cord - Glenn Pray resurrected the Cord name in the early 60s and built approximately 96 Cord 810s. They worked with the original designer and reduced the body size 20% in the body was made out of Royalite supplied by Rubbermaid. This is the same material that is used to make canoes, ABS over foam. In 1967 the company was sold to Samco. While designing a V8 version Samco built 14 units with a Corvair powertrain as all of the Glenn Prays had been built. This is number seven of 14 biult by Samco.
I obtained the car from a dishonest guy on eBay about eight years ago. I believe it to be a true 11,000 mile car, but it was in poor mechanical shape when I received it. It had clearly sat for many years. I had the entire drive train rebuilt by my uncle a Corvair expert over a six month period. He went complete a no expense spared rebuid of the drivetrain . He went through the engine, the differential and the transmission everything was rebuilt. a new torque converter was installed, aluminum transmission, oil pan, aluminum engine oil pan no expense spared and at the same time it was converted to automatic. I had the front end built with a new center link, new CV boots and full alignment. New Michelin tires were installed with new front brakes and new shocks. All new carpet was installed in the Passenger area and trunk. A remote oil filter was installed, youll thank me on that!. Runs beautifully! A stainless steel dash plate was installed along with a new clock. We fabricated a floor shift automatic shifter with the Clarks floor shifter kit. I had a custom to boot made and the top is great shape. I never put it up!
As far as I know everything works except the front directionals and the left front headlight needs alignment. I just never got around to fixing them. I installed an aftermarket properly fitting stereo with a Boss amplifier and new speakers. It sounds great. This car is a lot of fun to drive and is in great shape. Again the body is made out of Royalite which is plastic on each side with a foam in the middle. You will find some delamination on the body, which shows as a bubble, which is very common on this type of material. If a repair is ever to be made, I told you repair it with fiberglass just like fiberglass. It has a dent in the right rear fender (me) and some chips but shows beautifully overall. The shite waved you see in the pics are reflections of clouds! This is a great low mileage car ready to go and a lot of fun to drive and you will never stop answering questions.
