Hello,

I purchased this C20 Long Horn Camper Special by perhaps the widow of the second owner. It had been a second vehicle on a hobby gold mine in New Mexico where it was originally sold. The story goes the local welder (original owner) sold it in the 80s to the deceased second owner who bopped around in it having fun in the desert at his gold mine.

I purchased it after it had been sitting for a few years after the second owner passed away. I basically turned a few very competent mechanics loose and fixed it up to a very good driver/patina standard. All receipts included and when you drive it you'll see.

Only selling to make room for another fun project, this was all for fun so I am sure someone will get a great deal and have fun doing more if they so choose.

I found the truck with a bunch of dust and receipts and service documents going back to the 80s. Being a New Mexico truck it has light surface rust under it and some scrapes and bruises. Patina has been left intact or sunbaked surface rust call it what you will, looks great. This truck can be restored or used as is. Either way, it's a head turner and really nice to drive with the factory power steering and power disc brakes. Bench seat is just starting to break in so it is ready for a summer of fun.

It doesn't leak oil or blow smoke, I'd bet the engine is lower miles than indicated or was rebuilt at some point, but don't know. Seems to have a mild cam but that could be for hauling the camper.

The AC blows but not cold and the auxiliary fuel tank has good hoses running from it but I didn't mess with making it run.

The probably original paint has been buffed and waxed. There is some rust in the lower passenger side fender and some in the tool box I never got open. I'd imagine a day painting the underside would yield amazing results. The original wood bed is intact and firm, sunbaked could be replaced or left as is.

Clean honest old truck, I drove it across Denver yesterday 7/10/24 in 100 degree weather and it didn't over heat stayed on the cool side, charged the battery. Oil pressure read strong, the big block barks off with ease and sounds nice through new headers and the existing cherry bomb exhaust.

I will have the oil change and correct OE style windshield wipers installed, comes with a car cover.

I've spent over 10K having it fixed up. Work includes new grille, headlights, taillights, cab light, new glove box misc front trim, rear trim, new windshield, new CPP power brake booster, new front disc brakes, full tune up, fluids changed, carb rebuilt, new radiator. The suspension was rebuilt up front at Andersen Alignment with 1/2 ton big block pieces, the rear leaf springs were de-tuned so it rides way better. I think they took a leaf out and the big override springs. New tires, OE wheels and caps. I then had some minor rust repaired in the floor and had a rubber floor mat and insulation matte installed. New press in rubber around the doors, the windshield is new and the trim retained (the shop could not get the old trim back on but it's straight). Dome light works and gauges illuminate.

Heater blows hot and works very well, has a cup holder insert and original ash tray. New seat belts and kept the old ones. Found the tool box on FB market place and bolted it in with existing holes, has a new key to lock it.

The original seat was recovered in the correct highland trim seat with new foam. The AM/FM radio is new and works great with two extra speakers in the foot wells.

This truck drives really well, the power steering has a slow leak but the box is not worn out and turns with ease no squealing etc. The Power discs stop the truck very well, the rear drums have been cleaned and adjusted, perhaps needs new drums, did change a wheel cylinder that went out.

The data sticker in the glove box denotes, Long Horn Camper Special, Highland Trim, Big Block, Power Discs, AC, Power Steering etc. It's a cowboy Cadillac.

I think anyone who likes these trucks will enjoy this truck and can keep tinkering with it or drive and enjoy as is.

Cold start accomplished with a key turn and foot resting on gas pedal, that was a true one key start this morning 7/12.

Clean Kansas Title in my name, folder with all records included. Truck is Located in NW Denver, CO, USA, feel free to contact me.
