Solid California
car – no significant rust.
A great
starting point for any Camaro project, could go stock or sports car.
My
father bought this bone-stock base V-8 coupe back in 1990 then happened upon a
Corvette Independent Rear Suspension in a repair shop. The result is a rather unique Camaro!
No
engine or transmission. It was a
307/Powerglide car. We have saved you
the trouble of removing them.
The car
was originally a beautiful Glacier Blue (#53), but had been given a cheap enamel
respray decades ago which looks bad and will need to be sanded off.
Everything
other than the rear end appears to be totally original and mostly untouched.
Body is
very straight with some little dents and appears to be all original factory
sheet metal (except for the patches behind the front wheel wells).
This is
a California car and basically had no rust other than the typical spots behind
the rear window and also just behind the wheel openings, which have been cut
out. This is not shown in the old
outdoor photos (but I wanted you to see the car with the hood in place). The hood is currently removed and in storage.
The
interior is a time capsule and it is in surprisingly good shape for its
age. You might consider preserving most
of it, maybe replace the carpet and replace torn upholstery. The interior is a medium blue (53) in color.
The rear
seat is in good shape and is included, but I don’t think it can be installed
with the original hooks due to interference with the new rear end parts.
We never
had the protect-o-plate. There was a
build sheet over the gas tank, but it was badly deteriorated and pretty much
unreadable.
Odometer reads 8106. Pretty obvious that it rolled over.
