For Sale my 1998 BMW M3
This is a great and rare little car that runs and performsvery nice. When I purchased my M3 in2016, I began restoration with the intent to keep everything original but withperformance upgrades under the cover to make it like it should have been fromthe factory. To date, upgrades includethe following:
Body: Body was stripped to the metal and repainted with three coats of colorand four coats of clear. Rear wing isoriginal from the factory.
Interior: The rear seats are 100% original and in perfect condition. The front seats had a lot of ware so I hadthem fully restored using OE quality seat covers. They are in perfect condition
Transmission: (This is one of the main highlights of the car) In Europe, the E-36 M3came with a six-speed manual transmission. In the US, it had just a five-speed transmission. I had a conversion professionally performedusing a six-speed manual transmission from a 2004 M3. As part of the upgrade, I replaced theoriginal dual-mass flywheel with a steel single-mass performance version thatis appx 50% lighter than original and a new E-46 clutch and pressure plate fromClutch Masters. With this newtransmission, the gearing for the first five gears are the same as the originalfive-speed and the sixth gear is used for cruising.
Rear Differential: When upgrading to a six-speed manual, I alsotook the opportunity to upgrade the rear differential with a new unit toinclude changing gears from the original 323 to 346 and increase the clutchpack from 2 to 3. When combining thesix-speed transmission with these lower gears, she has noticeable more torquefrom a stop and yes still maintains a final drive ratio equal to or better than original.
Exhaust: Replaced the original manifold with a set of long tube Supersprintheaders. The mid-section was replacedwith high-flow set with catalytic converters from magnaflow. The muffler is by STROMUN. The result is a nice little rumble at idle thatwakes up nicely as the RPM increases, all without any annoying droning.
Suspension: Suspension was replaced with KW-Clubsport coil-overs all the wayaround. All bushings replaced.
Engine: Engine is pretty much stock except for the performance upgrade by TurnerMotorsports to include Cold Air Intake, 24lb fuel injectors, Turner PorscheHFM, performance silicone intake boot, and Turner Motorsports Stage 2performance chip.
Sound System: Original head unit but speakers upgraded with an OE like highperformance set by Bavsound. As a bonus,I inserted a wiring harness allowing a Bluetooth system to be integrated with theoriginal wiring. NO WIRES WERE CUT. This is simply a plug-n-play harness. The Bluetooth system is by Parrot and allowsa mobile phone to plug in, play music from the radio, phone or the original 6CDplayer and take calls via the installed external microphone.
Unfortunately, I am no longer able to work on cars the way Iused so it is time to pass the torch to someone who will take this awesomelittle car to the next level. She runsabsolutely great and is very reliable. She is not perfect. However, sheis well on her way there and is perfect for the right person seeking to take her to the next level and looking for a funand rewarding experience.
As I am sure you can imagine, the cost for these upgrades today could come close to the asking price but are available here already installed. A great value for a great little car.
I have a number of spare parts that will be passed to the buyer if desired at no cost. I also have a full set of ultralight SSR wheels that i will consider including with the sale.
