1977 Spitfire with 56795 miles and rust free. I've owned it for 15 years. Replaced the engine about 5000 miles ago. Engine and transmission are strong. Just replaced the clutch master and slave so that's brand new. Very clean interior. One ding in the front bumper the rest of the body is damage free. Top is in ok condition and has a tonneau.
What it needs: in case you are unfamiliar with Stromberg carburetors, the automatic choke system is awful! The choke works by running hot water in order to close off the choke. Currently, this carburetor has been set up at a higher rpm than normal in order to have a fast, cold start. This setting will be perfect to get it started quickly for loading onto a transport trailer. However, for road operation, after letting it reach warm up temperature, the idle screw needs to be adjusted down to 750 rpms. It's currently idling at 1250 after warm up. This will get it running perfectly but it will mean that cold starts will require some time (5 minutes or so) before the choke will reset to normal.
Currently registered as non operational as I haven't driven it in 4 years. Buyer is responsible for all smog regulations and passing smog rules for your state. Good luck if you plan to drive it in California! I had a hard time passing smog (eventually it did pass, but it wasn't easy)!
Buyer responsible for arranging transportation.
