To whom it may concern:

For Sale a beautifully example of a VW Bay type 2 Bus from 1972.

It was owned by the same chap a Mr Richard Knight for over 25 years.

It was then brought By Another gentleman and driven for a few years,  … Before undergoing a full restore in 2011.   (I have a document file showing old receipts etc).

It was then dry stored for a decade before being purchased by a lady on the South Coast,  Who after a few years fun and travels,  found that she was not using it as much as expected.   … She was also worried about the sea air getting in and destroying the van.  So took the lamentable decision to part with it,  As regrettably could not find people down in the south coast are to maintain her ?   …. I too know how she feels, as I am sadend by the closure, of what at one point,  up to ten years ago,  an abundance of VW Camper / beetle specialists in the Bognor Regis area.

Thus I took the van of her hands and have completely done out the inside of the van to a lovely standard, Utilizing fabric’s from the likes of ‘Lee Mill’s’ Fabric’s in Wales.   You can see for yourself, … It looks lovely.    ….. I have decided to keep the original cooker unit, As that may add value in future and I thought it was a shame to discard such a lovely unit.  It is by no means concourse,  .. But at the same time, as I mentioned, will add value in future.

The previous restoration had been done to a very high standard, with first close attention too sills and protection underneath.  … When I took it to AUTOFIX in the Paradise Industrial estate in Coventry, …. The welding and Restoration chap Derick was very pleased, and said it had been done just as good as he could have achieved, and he is a 35 year skilled Welder etc.

Now the roof area needed some attention and this is where the welding I mentioned came in ?  ….  This job on the restoration, had not been done to a level that would assure longevity, … And the sea air really gave it a battering,  .. Hence the lady’s reluctant sale I mentioned earlier.    So we utilized the services of our colleagues at Heritage Parts and Justkampers & sourced the parts needed to bring the gutter section back up to a high standard.   Once this had been done, We then painted in VW L90D  and also did  a bit of touch up on the body with the Mint Colour known as VWL66N  or its modern code RAL6019.  .. The beautiful Camper then Passed its MOT.

So please feel free to browse and ask me any questions, … As you know, Most of these VANS don’t come with a MOT, and upon inspection require work underneath etc.  … I am delighted, to say this Bay does not.

I should say, I decry the People trying to make a rip off profit from the Beautiful VW bay community, . It should really be about the ‘FEEL THE LOVE’ motto, and feel good factor that these vans have evoked.  Hence the ‘feel the love’ banner I placed on the back.  …. My reasons for undertaking this project, was not to make a profit, .. but to cover the cost of a new engine on my own main BAY, along with the joy of bringing this lovely lady back to life.

Enjoy the pictures & Happy Bidding & Best Regards.

Pete

P.s,  The engine was a bonus in this purchase and required no work,  runs beautifully and had recently been serviced when i purchased it last November with new oil etc.

I also took the opportunity to completely change the transmission fluid  in June of this year using the 'CLASSIC Morris 80/90' Oil specially made for these vehicles). So please be reassured that that is a messy job done.  :)
