Vehicle Details
1968 Mercury Monterey Fastback. 390 engine with 70,126 miles. Automatic transmission, power disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning. The A/C compressor kicks on but blows warm air, compressor is noisy. The Monterey is a true survivor that retains most of its original paint. There is filler on the left rear quarter panel and a few spots of primer that were done before I purchased the vehicle. When I got it home, still on the trailer, I buffed out a small spot on the right rear quarter panel, the paint buffed out nicely but thin in some spots. The interior is in very good to great condition for its age. The headliner has tape covering holes in it and the carpet is faded in some spots. All the window work properly. The engine oil and transmission fluid have been changed along with new filters. There are no leaks. The heater hoses will need to be replaced due to the inside of the hoses deteriorating. I bypassed the hoses so the heater core would not get clogged with debris. The heater core does not leak. The wires, plugs, cap, rotor, air filter and master cylinder have been replaced. The car starts right up and runs fine. The fuel in the tank is old but I have not added to it. I was trying to run it out of fuel before putting fresh in it. The car has been sitting for some time. The tires are severely dry rotted and are dated 1971. There is no rust or rot under the car. It is as solid as you can get. The car was ziebarted rust proofed when it was new. The body is super solid for its age with only primer spots needing attention. Bottom of fenders, doors, rockers and quarter panels are in great condition as you can see in the pictures. There has been no patch work done to this car. The only things I have checked are the brakes and the differential fluid. Brakes seem to work fine. Car is also for sale locally.
