Have you ever dreamed of owning a
baby bird? Typically, these cars are either
very expensive once restored or need so much work that repairs put the end cost
around owning a restored one. For your
consideration is something right in the middle.
This is a very good, running and driving car. Below I will do my best to describe the
condition of the car.
Mechanical:
The 312 Yblock cracks to life with
a touch of the key. The drivetrain in
this car is fabulous. Running with LOTs
of power, the 312 starts easy, idles nice, runs VERY STRONG, stays cool and
sounds great. The transmission shifts
firm and nice. The car stops and handles
as it should. The intake has been
upgraded to the 1957 style and fitted with a brand new 600 CFM Holley 4v. The distributor has been replaced by a later
style and recurved to suit the Holley, today’s fuel and a proper curve. The distributor has been professionally
recurved and the car has been professionally maintained, adjusted and
tuned. It’s a real runner! The dual exhaust sounds great. There are very few leaks for an old y-block
auto. There are no exhaust leaks.
Exterior:
The car presents itself very
nicely. The paint is older, perfect for
a cruiser or daily driver. The inner
rockers need some attention but don’t seem to be a problem if you don’t use it in
the winter. The lights work well,
windows, doors, hood, trunk and continental kit all function properly.
Interior:
The tach doesn’t work; the rest of the gauges
and lights do! It’s very comfortable
inside, the seat cover could be replaced.
I have a new seat cover that is all white and leather but the piping is
green. This can be had for an addition cost. It was $1,100 new. The car does have a soft top.
Undercarriage:
The frame is in great condition. The inner rockers need some attention. Exhaust is in great shape.
All in all, this car is in great
condition for its age and as a cruiser. You can get in and enjoy the car. If you want perfect, this is not your car.
It does come with a hard top and it has a black soft top. The back window is broken in the hard top. The ’56 intake and carb come with the
car. Clean PA title in my friend’s
name. Thank you.
