Up for sale is my 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero FWD, which is in need of a few significant repairs, located in northwest Indianapolis. 2.8L V6 turbo engine, and the transmission is 6-speed automatic. 120K miles, no accidents that I'm aware of, and I think I'm the 3rd owner if I remember right. The exterior color I believe is called “titan metallic grey,” and the leather interior is dark grey with off-white accents. Headlights are xenon HID. I have 2 of the electronic key fobs, but only one physical key. The tires are a little past their prime, but they still have some life left. Bought in 2019 with about 90k miles, she was my garage-kept daily driver for about three and a half years until the transmission problem developed, then she sat in the garage until now. (Note: I DO NOT recommend buying this car unless you are going to do most of the necessary work yourself. Paying for professional repairs would likely cost more than it would be worth.)

Important: the car is driveable, but you would need to be VERY gentle on the accelerator because the transmission slips like crazy, and seems like it could completely fail from too much stress. If you have the means to trailer it or tow it, that would be your best choice.

Issues:

- Big one: the transmission is cooked from turbocharger heat-bleed, and it will need to be rebuilt or replaced. (I have learned the hard way that one should not let a turbocharged engine idle indefinitely, especially in hot weather, and particularly when it is packed into a compact engine bay like this one is.)

- The oil cooler leaks a significant amount of oil due to scrape damage on the bottom. Last time I looked into it (which admittedly was something like two years ago), the necessary part was on backorder and quite costly, so finding a junkyard donor car would probably be to your advantage.

- Like on many NG 9-3’s, the rear quarter panels show small spots of rust bubbling right behind the rear wheels where they meet the bumper section. See pics.

- Again like on many of them, the moonroof sticks and aborts sometimes, but this can be overridden by holding down the window lock control while you use the moonroof control (weird but effective).

- Like on most if not all of them, the fuel gauge has stopped working correctly and I never bothered fixing it, relying instead on the trip odometer (1 tank = 250 city miles, so I would always completely refill when it got to about 200, and then reset the odometer to 0).

- The emergency tire jack is missing.

The Good:

- As far as I can tell, the engine and turbocharger (and anything else not mentioned above) are in good shape, never had any problems with them, other than the occasional rough idle when stopped at a light.

- Recent work includes: some front suspension work, water pump replaced, tire sensor replaced, belt and tensioner replaced. I do still have the invoice for these.

- Other than the aforementioned rust-bubbling, the exterior is in great shape for a 15yo daily driver. A few small dings/scratches, no dents. Rims are in good condition with only a few tiny spots of curb rash.

- The interior is in similarly good condition for its age. A few small scuffs on the leather, one very small spot on the side of the driver’s seat where the leather started to crack from getting in and out of the car. A little bit of ring rash on the door handles, small amount of wear on the electronics buttons. Only really noticeable thing is the backseat overhead light cover is gone.

- The original floor mats definitely show their age, but I do have them.

- Nice quality window tint (the windshield is less tinted than the rest), professionally applied, no bubbles, and looks great. Glass has no cracks or damage.

I will gladly do whatever I can to accommodate/assist the buyer picking up the car at their convenience (within a reasonable time frame). I do ask that payment be made within 7 days of the auction's end. Any questions I forgot to cover or any additional pics wanted, feel free to ask. Thank you for looking!
