Bottom line: Car is a solid and original; no rust. Car has always been garaged since I brought it home in 2013. I started a "cosmetic restoration," but life happened and I never finished it. My loss, your gain.
This listing is for a 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe. It's one of 1,225 replicas made. This one, I bought in 2013 because it was original and solid both mechanically and body/frame-wise. I had an idea to do a cosmetic restoration -- paint it up like Richard Petty's 1987 STP Grand Prix (and keep it as an original passenger car) and to restore the admittedly worn interior. But unfortunately, life happened, and I got sidetracked (married with children); and I never had time to work on it again. My loss, your gain.
Check out the pictures in this listing which show the current state of the car. Below are some more details:
Still in great shape for it's age.
It's still all original/stock passenger car as when it rolled off the car lot in 1986, except for the paint job. The current paint job is a work in progress blue/orange two-tone similar to what Richard Petty ran in 1987. Admittedly, there are a few areas where the paint job admittedly has started to peel, you'll see this in the pictures, so you'll probably want to reblast parts and paint the color of your choice.
The restoration is not complete. Exterior and interior pieces, such as hood, front/rear bumper, head/tail lights, chin spoiler, driver/passenger window, weatherstripping, and trim pieces, have been removed from the car in order to prepare for the cosmetic restoration; these parts are currently separated from the car. (See pictures of loose parts.) Note that the rest of the car is still together. The seats will need to be replaced, they are wasted.
The body is still straight. No rust. (Hood was planned next to be painted, so it's been bare metal for 11 years and has just surface rust).
The frame and floors are still solid.
The car currently turns over and starts, but has some issue idling; it has sat for 11 years, last inspection 2013, and when i parked it back then, it was running fine, turning, braking, idling, etc. just fine. Likely related to 11 years of no starting.
While the car has a history of running strong and is a survivor body/floor-wise, it's a great candidate to continue a restoration. However, it could be a parts car if that's what you need.
Feel free to ask questions. I'm just a regular guy selling his collection; I'm not a store, so I don't offer any warranties or returns. Car is approaching 40 years old; sold AS IS.
