The Truck

We love the OBS pickups that were just sparingly since Day 1, and this one follows in those steps. Mr. Ray Baker purchased his last new pickup from Interstate Ford in St. Joseph, MO back on June 21, 1995. Note that the sales paperwork and window sticker are still with the truck! Ray's family told me he LOVED this truck. Loved it. A decorated WWII Veteran, Ray would haul building supplies in the bed of his Ford, and enjoyed working on projects around his house. One day in 1998, a fella backed into his beloved F150. So upset by having to have the driver's side box repaired, Ray never told anyone about the repair. It wasn't until his daughter inherited the truck from her mom in 2009, did they find the paperwork for the repair. Ray's daughter and son-in-law continued to care for Ray's truck for the next 15 years, always storing it in their attached garage. They're now well into retirement age, too, and thought the time was right for someone else to enjoy their Dad's F150. I was able to purchase the truck earlier in 2024.

We've put about 40 miles on this pickup since our purchase, and have really enjoyed getting to know this truck. The truck is tight, and sincerely feels more like the '92-'96 F150s I've had with 20,000 miles, not 69,000. This 302 runs incredibly well, holds good idle, and accelerates smoothly. The transmission shifts smoothly, and into Overdrive without any weird torque converter issues. It's honest, gang, just plain honest.

The Tobago Green Metallic paint has been professionally ceramic coated with Gyeon's Evo coating. Yes, the gloss and glow from the paint looks even better in person. There are some errant dings, along with a few minor chips, and scratches on the tailgate seen in the photos and videos, but overall, this truck absolutely incredible.

Chrome and trim on the truck is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Other than a couple marks on the mirrors, the chrome on the door handles, windshield trim, antenna base, etc, is all beautiful. All glass in this one is still original, including the windshield. Note that the windshield does show a small stone chip, seen in the videos. I almost NEVER see original windshields in these trucks anymore, it was really a treat to see how clean the glass is on this one.

The interior shows nearly new. This pickup hasn't been smoked in, and still has that mid '90s Ford smell to it. It takes you back, for sure. Interior trim is gorgeous, and the Opal Gray cloth seat material looks nearly new. Even the carpet looks fantastic; this one shows every sign of being babied over the years. No disappointments here, friends.

The undercarriage shows incredibly well for being a Missouri truck. It's obvious that this one has been out of the elements over the years, but does have some surface rust starting here and there, as shown in the photos.

I've owned over 35 '92-'96 F150s and Broncos. Although the miles are low, this one looks, rides, and drives like it has far fewer miles. It's a keeper, just an honest keeper.
