I'm selling my 1973 MGB roadster. I have a clean Illinois title in my name for the MG. The MG overall has great patina and character, and runs and drives well. The car came out of Colorado, so is super solid and has no structural rust issues. There are only 29,770 miles on the odometer. Likely that's 129,770 miles, but the interior has minimal wear so it could be less. I am the third owner - the original owner owned it from new until a few years ago.

This MGB is factory stock and starts, runs, drives, and stops great. I added a new battery, NOS Bosch Ignition coil, new distributor, rebuilt the original HIF dual SU carbs with new jets, needles, and seals, and added new spark plugs, cap, and rotor in the past few months. The original 4 cylinder 1,798cc BMC motor runs very well, and does not smoke, burn oil, or knock. It has 50 lbs of oil pressure when running. The motor pulls strong and has good power. It starts easily and idles very smoothly. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts fine. It's all factory stock under the hood, including the original smog equipment like the air injection tubes and smog pump, so you will have no problems registering the car in any US state.

The Sunset Bronze paint is in good condition overall. There are some flaws in the paint, and some minor scratches, fading, dings, and paint loss, but overall the MG is very presentable. Both doors, the hood, and trunk open and close smoothly. The body is very solid, with no rust-thru in the lower front fenders, rear fender doglegs, or sills. Both sills have the factory pinch welds, and the front fenders have the factory nuts along the bottom edge, so they appear original and untouched. The jacking points on each side are original and super solid. The subframe and floorpans are super solid with just light surface rust at the bottom. There is no evidence or accident damage or repairs in the front subframe. Overall, the unibody has no rust holes, repairs, patches, or accident damage. There are no rust holes in the truck floor, and no extra holes in the trunk bulkhead for speakers, either.

The dark navy blue interior is factory original and in very good shape. All the original gauges, horn, heater, turn signals, and lights work fine. I don't smoke, and there are no funky smoke or musty odors in the interior. The black soft top is in excellent shape with no rips, tears, or damage. The plastic windows in the back are very clear and have no scratches or yellowing. The tires are in good shape and have good tread and free of dry rot.

Why am I selling it? My daughter needs a practical new car, and I'm planning a move, and I want to downsize my fleet.

known issues: When I replaced the distributor, I didn't have a timing light. The ignition should be properly timed, and the rebuilt carbs deserve to be fine tuned. The factory BMC radio does not work. The rubber gaiters on the front steering rack should be replaced.

You are welcome to inspect the MG. It's a very nice driver that is not perfect, but will make an excellent driver with some tinkering and fiddling. You could drive it home if you don't mind a top speed of 55-60 mph.I am looking to get $10,995 for the MGB. I'm not under duress to sell, so please don't put out a wild lowball offer. I don't need help selling it, either.
