Vehicle Details
My vintage neighbor (93 years old) bought this 1959 Mercedes 220S in 1962 from the original owner, a Mr. C R Luce from Maine. He lived in Boston, MA area his whole life. He went to France to work on the Nuclear Power project and this 220S came off the road and has been in his garage since 1974. Through the years, he has been disassembling and restoring it. The undercarriage looks new. The inside of the original wheels are still shiny black. All the pieces of chrome, all the glass, dash parts, original radio, bumpers, grille, sun visors, EVERYTHING is there, but in pieces. The olive green front seats are still great, but the stuffing in the seat needs replacement. The rear seat leather has cracked on the top of the seat back from the sun. This car is like a priceless sculpture. The solid wood dashboard is in perfect condition and just needing a coat of semigloss clear. At 93, he is limited due to low blood pressure, but insists on getting it fired up with fresh gasoline. The headlining is rotten, but all the bows and even the padded insulation are there. Looking for a piece of history that is 1 of 1? This is it. The picture of the car in one piece was taken in 1962 when he purchased it.
