Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. The Chevy Vega had a meteoric rise, then crash in the US auto market. At first, highly praised as a competent and smart response to the oil crisis and the foreign invasion in the US auto market, later that good will was squandered thanks to poor engineering and build quality. However, chevy wasn't ready to just roll over. After many revisions and improvements, they contacted Cosworth - world renown, British racing engine company - to throw some spice under the Vagas hood. This consisted of a DOHC engine capable of 110hp at 6500. This was good power for the 2700lbs coupe and the black with gold pinstriping and matching wheels really set the car apart. This 76 Cosworth is a clean survivor car that represent the mark well. It runs well and drives well. The car is rust free and the black vinyl interior is free of rips and tears. Theses are uncommon cars, and rust was very unkind to many. This car is a great drive 'as is' or restore to showroom condition. The car comes with a book of ads and documents. [ omitted ].
