Selling one of my '41 Cadillac Fastback Coupes. I'll soon be 80 yrs. old and won't be able to finish this car. Body was removed from this low mileage chassis with running engine and hydromatic transmission, and stripped at a RediStrip facility in Indiana. There is a fair amount of body work to be done to restore this car. A large dent was removed from the left front fender, which still needs some hammer/dolly work to finish. Aside from the dent in the front of the driver's door, the car has the usual small dents and imperfections. There are holes in the front floors near the A-pillars and in the right front area of the trunk floor. The rear floor is solid as is most of the front floor and under the front seat, and most of the trunk. Both the inner and outer rocker panels need replacement and these panels are available online. Have 3 stainless rocker panel moldings, but they are dented and not in good shape.
Transmission linkage needs adjustment, for better selection of gears and avoidance of grinding the gears in this old hydromatic. Had to remove linkage to separate body, when it was stripped. The hydomatic transmission shifts as it should. Body dataplate was removed from the cowl, before it went to the stripper, to avoid its destruction. It goes with the car. This is a matching numbers car (frame and engine). Car needs an entire wiring harness. Radiator was flushed and tested recently, system needs to be filled with antifreeze. (It was drained completely). It has the original shutter thermostat. Gas tank is in good condition and does not leak. Brakes are operating fine, with several new lines, but one of the rear wheel cylinders appears to have a small leak. Parking brake works, but needs adjustment. 6 volt battery is old, but still works...... has been maintained on a trickle charger. Has nice master disconnect switch inside the lower cowl, with O-gauge welding wire cables. New battery box correct for this car, which can accomodate a large 6 volt battery.
Car can be driven onto your trailer, but is not roadworthy at this point. I have the front hood lip chrome strip in nice condition.... did not try to mount it in order to avoid any possible damage. Door locks match the ignition and the trunk lock matches the glove box. I also have the rear glass with the vertical chrome strips. Front windshield glass was badly cracked.... driver & passenger door glass were also broken. I believe I may have the rear side glass stored away. Have the block CADILLAC letters for the hood front. Nice flying goddess and in tact center hood strip. Cowl ventilator needs a small tack weld, on one side, to secure it properly, inside the cowl. Have the original Cadillac oil bath air cleaner. Fan & generator belts are in good condition. Newly rebuilt water pump. Nice generator.
I also have a video of the car with the engine running..... didn't seem to be able to upload the video to this ad.
My advancing age and deteriorating health have caught up with me. This is a solid, 83 yr. old, running & stopping, project car needing full restoration. Please message me with any questions, which I have not shed some light upon, in this ad. It's time to let this car go to a new home! Will soon be adding and updating some photos
