Details
This 1962 Morgan Plus Four offers a classic British open-top driving experience. As you grip the wooden steering wheel, you're transported back in time, yet the performance on the road is anything but outdated. Its 2.1-liter engine delivers responsive acceleration and nimble handling. The four-speed manual transmission allows for a tactile and engaging drive, connecting you directly with the mechanics of this machine.
This Morgan is painted white over soft beige leather with a removable black soft-top.
The vehicle features a blend of classic and modern enhancements, including fender-mounted mirrors for a vintage sports look, a luggage rack, 15-inch wire-spoke wheels, front disc brakes and Koni rear shocks for improved performance, a Maradyne heater for comfort, and a banjo-style steering wheel.
This 1962 Morgan Plus Four has been lovingly preserved and maintained since being stewarded under the care of its current owner since 2018, originally sold new by Fergus Imported Cars of New York. The car shows 63,242 miles and was given extensive service in 2019. This included repairing the chassis and installing new parts such as rear tube shocks, a dual-circuit brake master cylinder, clutch, water pump, fuel tank, electric fuel pump, kingpin bushings, front subframe, rear wheel cylinders, and axle seals.
Meticulous third-party inspections and photos assure peace of mind in the car's condition. Included with the purchase are an owners manual, original sales brochure, luggage rack, car cover, and detailed service receipts for your convenience.
This Morgan is available in Virginia as a Premium Listing on CLASSIC.COM and is being represented by Robert Lewis.
About the model
Morgan first introduced the +4 in 1950. This new model of sports cars featured a longer chassis than its sibling, the Morgan 4/4, and was offered in two or four door roadster, or two or four door drophead coupe. The first generation of +4 was initially powered by a 68hp 2.1L inline four engine, but in 1953, it was replaced by a more powerful 2.0L Triumph-sourced unit. This engine only lasted until 1955, when Morgan updated it with the 2.0L unit from the Triumph TR3. From 1962 onwards, the larger 2.1L inline four engine from the Triumph TR4 was used. Production of the first generation +4 lasted until 1969, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Morgan +4.
