Here we have a VERY nice 1978 Volkswagen Beetle convertible
CHAMPAGNE EDITION. 100% original car
with 54,000 original miles. Absolutely
zero rust ever and original paint. The
interior is excellent. The underside of
the car (floor pan) is literally perfect.
It drives very well. The convertible top (and its headliner) are in
amazing condition.
This was a WESTERN U.S. car until I brought it to PA a month
ago. I have a CLEAN Pennsylvania ANTIQUE
title in my name.
Because this is an original 46-year-old car that had been
driven 54,000 miles, it’s had its share of stone chips that the original / previous
owner touched up over the years. If you
consider those to be “flaws”, they’d be virtually the only ones on the car.
There is a notebook in the glovebox of all the maintenance
that had been done through the years. It’s
clearly been well maintained. It has
been stored INSIDE its entire life and comes with a car cover and a battery
tender. There is also a boot for the
convertible top. The rare alloy wheels
are in excellent condition, as are the tires.
Here is the history of the car as I know it: The original owner passed. Her attorney, who was also a judge, purchased
it from her estate. He was an avid car and
motorcycle collector; a total fuss-budget about maintenance, and he just loved
old eclectic automobiles. He, himself,
passed this past November and willed all his vehicles to his nephew. The nephew lives about 200 miles from the
uncle’s home and wanted to sell all the cars to one buyer to save himself a lot
of hassle. I collect, restore and sell
old 4x4 trucks and he had one I wanted.
I had to buy them all to get it, so now I’m in the process of
liquidating the others.
The way you see the car, is exactly the way I purchased it,
save for a good washing because it got dirty in transit across the
country. I know very little about these
old Vee-Dubs. Although it runs and
drives very well, I would suggest running (or draining) the old gas,
re-lubricating everything, servicing its components, etc., just to be
completely confident in it.
If there is a question you’d like answered or something you
think I’ve missed here, please reach out.
My name is Marc. I can be reached
at (484) 895-9870. I prefer phone calls
over texts and emails, as I don’t always have time to check them.
I own a towing company and can transport this car within 300
miles of Bethlehem, PA, at the buyer’s expense.
I also can help with setting up transport beyond the 300 miles. Please check on transport cost prior to
bidding / buying.
This vehicle must be paid for, in full, prior to being
released. Any (bank) checks must clear
my bank prior to release of the vehicle or its title.
