The final iteration of the 356 came as the C-model, in a T6 body configuration showcasing twin rear engine grills, more squared off front hood for larger trunk access, curved windshield, 4-wheel disc brakes, wider 4.5" wheels, revised steering linkage, and improved suspension. These magnificent examples were only produced for two years before transition into the 911-era Porsche remains known for today. Of the approximately 12,000 356C's produced, it is estimated less than 1,500 were Reutter Cabriolets making them exceptional collection pieces, as well as the most refined of owner-driven 356 convertible models one can own today!
We are very proud to present this 1964 Porsche 356C Reutter Cabriolet professionally refinished in Stone Grey (originally Light Ivory) over correct Fawn Leather interior with a Black cloth convertible top. This exceptional example has been brilliantly restored to a stunning, show-worthy condition! It retains it numbers matching 1600cc Horizontal 4-cylinder engine producing 75 horsepower mated to its factory issued 4-speed ZF transaxle. Features include passenger visor mirror, outside rearview mirror, Porsche radio delete plate (original Blaupunkt AM/FM radio included), Sekurit window glass, Koni Classic shocks, Hella fog lamps, and painted steel wheels with chrome center caps. The tires are traditional Michelin XZX radials measuring 165SR15.
This stunning 356C Cabriolet was formerly owned by a talented architect since 2013 where it was restored to a high degree and curated amongst a small collection of Porsches that also included a 1959 356B Super Coupe and 1960 356 Super Roadster. This one was color-matched to his Coupe in Stone Grey, a color he enjoyed more than the traditional white many of these cars were ordered in. It was completed stripped prior to the repaint completed in approximately 2022 and selling on to a local St. Louis collection. During this renovation, the car received all new leather interior with oatmeal carpeting completed Autobahn based in National City, CA, and full mechanical overhaul to the suspension and braking systems. Having always been a faithful driver, the engine only received a normal fluid & gasket service along with cosmetic restoration to the tins and brightwork and Zenith carburetor overhauls. Recent compression results support psi readings of 115-125 across all cylinders. The transaxle was fully inspected and serviced as needed prior to going back into the vehicle with a new clutch and fitted with a correct style exhaust system.
It continues to run and drive with excellent power and smooth synchronized gearbox shifts. The 4-wheel disc brakes add a high degree of stopping confidence, while steering remains tight and agile for spirited driving in any condition. All features are functional with exception to the dash clock. It will come complete with a matching spare tire dated 11/64, service jack, cloth convertible top boot cover, copy of Porsche COA, and some recent service receipts. Knowledgeable enthusiasts should act quickly; original Porsche Cabriolets like this nice do not come along very often!
