Description of this vehicle by category;
Wheels: 5 correct 5.5" Ford steel wheels were sandblasted and painted in correct Flame Red paint, mounted with 5 new tires driven apx 2k miles since installed.
Body/Paint: The body and paint are essentially original as no body work was ever done to my knowledge with the exception being some red primer on the hood and colonial white paint on the firewall. This wagon was built at the San Jose, California assembly plant July of 1957. The entire front sheet metal was disassembled, cleaned with underside surfaces of the fenders paint as well as inside quarter panels and doors with POR15 to preserve. All outside door handles were upgraded with better pieces, nos ww arms, nos rear bumper and guards, nos front guards, nos rear ashtray trim. Rust areas on the body (visible in pictures) bottom of one fender (very small) and right dog leg as well as various pitting in the tailgate (while in the junkyard for apx 35yrs, the tailgate was left down, all inside surface was painted with POR-15 to preserve. The critical area of the tailgate, the lower edge never rusted) I can provide detailed pictures if requested. Three of the four floor pans were replaced (see pictures). The quarter panels are rust free with one exception being, the right dog leg as seen in the pictures. The rocker panels are rust free and all four doors are rust free as well.
Glass: All broken glass was replaced including front windshield and both cargo side glass (all with new weatherstripping). Door glass remains original with various delamination present.
Interior: Headliner replaced with an accurate replacement (from SMS) along with the wind-lace, new coat hooks and all 4 door panels that are perfect in every way, also from SMS Auto Fabrics of Canby, OR. The front seat is an NOS original seat cover set NOS from Ford, the seat frame painted when cover set professionally installed. The rear seat is original and in decent condition but certainly not perfect. Dashboard was removed to clean inside (wiring/gauges, fresh air vents, etc) so that a replacement firewall pad could be installed. Steering column was removed, painted and re-installed with a new firewall column seal and painted retainer bracket; dimmer switch mounting plate also restored. The dash itself still has original red paint as do some of the interior trim. Motorola console radio was professionally rebuilt as well as the Ford speaker. Since this car did not originally come with a radio, whoever installed a radio initially, installed an aftermarket antenna so I replaced with an nos 58 antenna. Floor covering throughout was replaced with similar like rubber matting and made to fit reasonably well. Brake and Clutch pads replaced, all locks work as do tailgate latch and glove box. 2 sets of Ford keys will come with the car.
Rear Cargo Area: which includes the backside of the rear seat bottom surfaces, were recovered for 75% of area, with NOS Ford linoleum and the balance with exact reproduction material from SMS. Both rear wheel wells were replaced with exact red reproduction material by professional upholstery shop, supplied from SMS. Under the cargo floor, resides new spare and restored complete jack & base.
Undercarriage: The entire frame was painted with POR-15 (a well known rust preventor) the floors all seemed and undercoated as appropriate. New shocks, all new brakes and hoses, pinion seal, universals, clutch, throw out bearing, Engine professionally rebuilt, new tires.....Radiator rebuilt, new battery and cables, water and fuel pumps.
Ownership Information: I believe this wagon entered the southern California wrecking yard in the early 1970's and during the time there it was often photographed by several folks who are members of the Facebook Group; Fords of 1957. I have many of the pictures if anyone wants. True mileage unknown, od shows 23804.
