Selling my pride and joy. Those of you that witnessed this car in it's era know. Whether you were at the wheel , standing on the street or the kid holding your ears, you knew power! B bodies - big enough for the family, but definitely Lone Wolf status in any era. There is about 500 pictures. Enjoy! 1968 super bee #2907 COLLECTOR QUALITY 100 years before the birth of the Dodge Super Bee, was the birth of the second of the two Dodge Brothers. Their car business born , due to the changing of the guard, ship transportation to ground transportation. Interestingly, their family business was marine mechanics that would provide both fortune and misfortune for the overall family. As kids going to school was tough, walking to school barefoot each year until the beginning of winter and working before and after. That pure spirit drove them. Education was paramount. They worked were they could, to eat and have shelter. Through their failures and success they ended up with a ball-bearing patent used in bicycle manufacturing. They tried the bike business, failed, sold, and pretty much got beat out of the royalties from the buying company, probably because they couldn’t make it either…. But when a door closes another opens, they got a job making parts for Ransom Olds and then Ford. Infact , in1902, they produced in their machine shop the car that would give Henry Ford, fame and fortune, the model A. Again, they were stiffed by Ford for cash. As a consolation Ford offered them fifty shares each of Ford Motor Company. topic/ wiki/ If you get a few minutes read the entire articles, they also helped change the landscape of Detroit Fine Arts & Sciences too. The Super Bee was based on the Dodge Coronet and the name was derived from the “B” Body given Chrysler’s midsized cars. It was the sibling rival of the Plymouth Road Runner. It’s base price was $3,027. The 426 Hemi was the only engine option, it was nearly $1,000!!! It was a paradox to the Super Bee’s budget appeal and only 125 were order that way. Fast forward forty-three years, out of a private collection you have an opportunity to purchase a factory Super Bee, originally outfitted as a 383, 4 speed, now it sports - period correct powertrain from a hemi car. (Jon-input picture) In fact the complete drivetrain – 426 hemi-4 speed hurst and –Dana rearend!!! Ironically, the first Super Bee, the show car, was built at Alexander Brothers Custom Shop and introduced at the 1968 Detroit Auto Show to commemorate the 100 year birthday of Horace Elgin Dodge. Here is a list of the numbers and work completed (to date) on the super bee over a two and half year period. THERE ARE A LOT OF PICTURES OF THE BUILD PROCESS WITH THIS VERY SPECIAL CAR.
