This car was originally delivered to the Alfa Romeo concessionaire in Lugano, Switzerland.
Alfa 1900s are wonderfully light cars that are fun to drive with surprisingly good performance. The handbuilt bodies by Touring of Milan are all aluminum which results in a curb weight much lower than comparable steel cars of the era. The 1.9 liter four cylinder engines were highly robust and reliable, and unlike many Italian cars of the era need minimal maintenance and tuning. Inside, the cars have good leg room and accomodate drivers up to 6 ft.tall. This makes these cars perfect for touring and for events such as the Mille Miglia and Copperstate 1000 for which this car is eligible.
This is for all practical purposes a "new" Alfa 1900, having been through a meticulous, multi-year restoration with only test miles since completion. The result is a vehicle ready for show or tours.
As everyone has a different definition of "restored", here is a description of the work performed:
The aluminum body shell was removed from the steel "birdcage" support chassis. The body shell itself was in excellent condition and needed minimal bodywork. It preserves the original hand forming performed by Touring of Milan in 1957 and showed no indications of accident damage. The body was refinished in a period correct argento chiaro metallizzato with contrasting rosso scuro roof. The paintwork is unbelievable on this car.
The steel "birdcage" support chassis was sandblasted and several rusted areas were cut out and replaced (primarily sheet steel). The chassis was then painted in the correct red oxide paint followed with satin black paint per original specification.
The suspension was fully restored, this included replacing all worn bushings and all necessary brake parts. All brake drums were relined, wheel cylinders were all rebuilt.New Koni red "classic" shocks were fitted on all four corners. Carbon brake lines and a new master cylinder was fitted.
The steering box was removed and sent to a specialist who restored it, eliminating any play.
The correct 1308 type engine was professionally rebuilt including balance and blueprinting, new pistons, valve springs etc. Two correct Solex C40Pii carburetors were completely rebuilt and fitted along with the correct "ferrari" type yellow fuel line.

The radiator was removed and rebuilt with a new core.Driver and passenger heater cores were also rebuilt.

5 Original aluminum rim 400mm Borrani wheels were sent out for restoration. They were trued and fitted with new stainless steel spokes. They carry the correct Borrani stampings, decals and wheel weights. New Michelin 165 x 400 mm tires were fitted to the car.
A new correct reproduction black cloth 1900 wiring harness was fitted to the car along with a new fusebox and auxillary fusebox. Correct Carello headlight, market light and tail light lenses were fitted to the car with new bulbs.
All gauges were sent out and professionally rebuilt. New tach and speedometer cables were fitted. The dash retains all the correct switch gear, correct knobs, correct radio block off plate, etc. Everything is working as it should.
A new windshield was fitted, new wiper arms and blades were fitted.Original glass was retained for the side windows and rear window (some scratches present on the side windows from 60+ years of wear).
A new correct 1900 Nardi steering wheel was fitted with the correct horn/flasher button. The seats were completely rebuilt with new seat foam and new correct seat adjustment tracks.
A completely new interior was installed including German wool carpet with correct "Touring Superleggera" rubber inserts sewn in, matching floor mats, leather upholstery throughout, and a correct grey wool headliner..The gas tank was removed, cleaned and red-coated.
