RARE TRUCK, FUN TO DRIVE, HEAD TURNER, ON-GOING PROJECT, Ready to hand off my childhood toy to someone else.
Gen 1 "light body" 4x4 with Gen 2 big engine / computer; Very "peppy" feel when driving;
This truck has been in storage for over 10 years;
RECENTLY mechanic went through ignition system, fuel pump & injectors, charging system, many sensors...
UPGRADES/ADD-ONS:
5.29 yukon gears, frt/bck;
extended driveshafts, frt/bck;
Extended brake lines;
New windshield;
GENERATION 2 engine (22RE fuel injection);
GENERATION 2 dashboard, wiring harness, computer system;
Big camshaft;
6" All-Pro leaf-style suspension lift kit w/ long travel "Rancho" shocks, pitman arm;
Axle angle shim kit;
Extended shackles;
Large back-up light and switch;
Airbrushed tailgate from local Bellingham artist;
Shimano Canopy, sliding side windows and rear latches work;
Tinted windows;
Vintage 35" BFG Mud-Terrain's w/ polished 15x10 slot mags;
Full size spare;
Chrome hedders w/ flex-pipe and enlarged exhaust;
4x4: solid axles with manual front hubs, and a HI/LOW transfer case; Works perfectly;
PAINT: original true blue, truck was repainted w/latex using a roller to get that flat/matte look in "capricorn blue"; Looks very good washed;
BODY: some small dents;
RUST: some slight rust, most obvious is inside bed; This has been painted with KILZ. Canopy put an end to the bed rusting any further;
NOTE: ODOMETER reading 285610 only applies to dashboard. This 1981 GEN1 chassis has an engine out of 1986 GEN2 and a dashboard/computer out of a 1988 GEN2. Original truck has less than that, not exactly sure. Mechanic took original dashboard.
MAY STILL NEED:
1-Computer diagnostic work; Yellow "check engine" light turns on after a RUN-OFF-RUN cycle and warmed up; Truck runs fine cold (need to sit in truck until warmed up), but not once you turn it off somewhere after warming it up, then try to start it and go again (i.e. gas station). Check engine turns on. Someone with a computer diagnostic tool should be able to figure this out;
2-Uses a tiny bit of brake fluid and clutch fluid; Check regularly;
3-May need a fresher set of 35" tires (if intended for highway road use); The ones on it now work really good for just locally; Slight "shimmy" initially at 70 MPH, but goes away in about 30 secs;
DISCLAIMER: This truck currently is not a daily driver, grocery getter; It is a toy and a project truck with the potential to be a serious head-turner; Needs some love from someone with experience with some of the older fuel injection systems.Let me know if you'd like a shipping quote. I may be able to provide that.
