Ford’s Falcon was its mainstay compact during the 1960s in North America. This restomodded example was made in Ford’s Kansas City, Missouri factory.
This example underwent a complete tear-down and rebuild. Everything new was redone seven years ago and the engine was put in two years ago.
The car’s silver over black exterior is in very good order overall. The front bumper fits tightly to the body. The detached rear bumper goes with the car. The engine bay is very tidy.
This car rolls on iMove all-season radials, size 195/45ZR17 in front and 245/45ZR17 in back. All four tires are mounted on American Racing five-spoke alloy wheels. The car’s wheels and tires are in good order. A Mustang II front end replaces the stock parts.
Under the hood is a 351 CID Windsor V-8 bored 0.40 over with a Holley 650 Demon Carburetor, BBK shorty headers and aluminum heads with a mild camshaft. The engine breathes via a dual exhaust. There is an aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan. The engine has been dynamometer tested at 361 horsepower! Backing the engine is a three-speed automatic transmission with a 9-inch rear and 3.50:1 gearing. The car has power steering.
Inside, a new black leather interior features beautiful front bucket seats, a rear bench, matching carpet and a heavily padded black dashboard with some faux wood surrounding the Dolphin gauge cluster. There’s an aluminum, three-spoke banjo steering wheel with a black rim and a console-mounted shift lever. The steering column tilts.
The final model year for the Falcon in North America was 1970. Continuing sales declines and the inability of the car to meet forthcoming safety standards resulted in a short run of 1970 models identical to the 1969 version being built through the end of December, 1969.
