This 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is a gorgeous ragtop with wonderful options and a fantastic 50s look! 1958 was a major turning point in the American automobile industry. Faced with an impending economic downturn, the American auto-makers continued to release vehicles with groundbreaking designs and iconic looks. Initially debuting in 1958 as an option package for Chevrolet's top-of-the-line Bel Air, the Impala was considered the top trim level for the Bel Air and it wasn't until the following year that the Impala was spun off to be its own standalone model. In 1958, Chevrolet had completely redesigned the look for all of its passenger cars, from the entry-level Del Ray to its brand-new top-of-the-line Impala. "Lower, wider, [and] longer" was how the GM marque touted its new design in its 1958 marketing materials. At the nose, perhaps the most famous change was the inclusion of a new dual headlight design similar to the changes virtually all American manufacturers made in 1958 and brought on by a change in government regulation. In addition to Chevy's quad-headlights, their front ends received a new-look grille and bumper design which was a more modern look. Down the sides of the '58 Chevrolet Impala, 4 new Chevrons were added to the front fenders as was additional chrome trim and Impala-identifying marks signifying the presence of a top-level Impala. Of course, it was at the rear end of the 1958 Chevrolets which garnered the most drastic style updates and cemented the '58 Impala as one of the most iconic American-made automobiles of all time. 3 "missile" style taillights framed by the swooping lines of the gullwing-like rear quarters, are among the most identifiable attributes of the '58 Impala. In addition, the 1958 Impalas had simulated air scoops on the rear fenders that, along with the additional taillights, differentiated the Impala from the lower level Bel Air. The interiors were also well-appointed and were known to be the plushest and most luxurious Chevrolets ever produced. This particular 1958 Impala Convertible comes to us from its long-term previous owner and underwent substantial cosmetic and mechanical improvements while under our ownership. Powering this '58 Impala is a 348 Cubic Inch V8 engine fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that created 250 horsepower when new. The 348 V8 is hooked up to a Powerglide Automatic transmission that makes this '58 Impala an easy car for just about anybody to drive. Exhaust exits the 348 big-block powerplant via dual exhaust setup that creates a nice throaty sound out the rear tailpipes. This '58 Chevy Convertible comes with fantastic options! With power steering, turning in and out of tight spaces at the local car show or drive-in is a breeze and the overall driving experience is much improved. Power brakes is also a wonderful addition on this 1958 Impala since it makes bringing this 3,500+ pound convertible to a complete stop much easier. The white vinyl power convertible top is in wonderful condition and it goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch mounted neatly under the dash. Riding on a set of wide whitewall radial tires on steel wheels with full Spinner-style wheelcovers, this '58 Chevrolet Impala has a great look and even better ride. The exterior on this first year Impala was recently refinished correctly in Silver Blue, just how it came back in 1958. The interior of this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is gorgeous! The front and rear bench seats are upholstered in Blue vinyl with tri-tone grey/blue/black cloth inserts. The tri-tone blue vinyl door panels, brand new blue carpeting, steering wheel and dash are all in wonderful shape and appear to be in their stock configuration. All four windows are powered and go up and down with the simple flick of a switch. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge, along with a clock and push-button AM radio. Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to an existing collection, this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible would make an excellent choice.
