This is a 1962 Volkswagen Beetle that has been converted into a world-class dune buggy. It uses a nostalgia fiberglass body, tubular modern chassis, a steering support, windshield and side pods sourced from Berrien Buggy. It has the original red gel coat from when it was manufactured which is flawless. I will walk you around it and describe it to you as I see it and I also have a pretty in-depth YouTube video on my YouTube channel called "grease belly garage" which includes the owner, my friend Steve.
Exterior: this car was a brand new build as of 5 years ago my friend Steve acquired it and dialed it into perfection. It has headlights with LED halos and integrated turn signals, rear LED tail lights with functioning turn signals as well, led license plate surround and billet side view mirrors. The hard top is removable with about six screws it is a very high quality top and has a lot of room inside it's very easy to get in and out of this buggy. It has the integrated side pods that clean up the look. Chrome wheels with new tires. I would give the outside of this buggy a 10 out of 10 I can't find anything wrong with it other than the exhaust header have some purpling in the Chrome. Which is something that's nearly impossible to avoid.
Interior: The interior has a custom-made rear seat with seat belts front and back, it has pro car adjustable front seats. The instrumentation is stock Volkswagen cluster it has a sport 3 spoke steering wheel. The interior is clean tight and very well put together. The seat belts were installed so the grandkids could ride in the back. So this is a family-ready vehicle with plenty of room but you can still have a ton of fun. This unit does not have a roll bar but they are available aftermarket. This buggy was primarily used with the top in place. I would give the interior a nine and a half out of 10.
Mechaical: this is where this buggy shines! This thing will absolutely start every single time with a pump of the gas pedal. It has a ported and polished 1835 Volkswagen engine with a 110 camshaft and has and lapped cylinders, twin 40 IDF carburetors that have been correctly jetted and dialed in, Petronix electronic ignition with epoxy filled ignition coil. The header style exhaust gives good power and back pressure without being loud and annoying. The valve train was adjusted with valve lash caps and rocker shaft shims. The front end is all stock Volkswagen it has KYB shocks all around and the gas tank has been relocated in the correct factory Volkswagen location under the hood. The entire brake system is brand new including the master cylinder and it has an e-brake in the correct location between the seats. The entire transaxle was gone through and it has the more modern CV shafts with rubber boots. It also has brand new tires front and rear. I would give this mechanical rating a 10 out of 10. This thing runs, drives, stops and pulls perfectly.
This is a relatively new build Volkswagen has of 5 years ago but it has been used quite frequently for car shows and weekend cruises. My friend Steve has a lot of paperwork on this car. This is not just a run-of-the-mill converted Volkswagen beetle on a rusty old pan this is a assembly line quality built from the ground up dune buggy that has a ton of potential and a lot of life and will not give you constant headaches and problems. Please feel free to watch the video on YouTube and you can see everything else you'd want to know about it my name is Jason feel free to drop me a question and I will get you an answer I will put you in contact with Steve the owner.
