Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is very happy to be able to present the top of both worlds... this highly custom 1940 Cadillac Series 62! These 1940 Fisher-bodied Cadillacs were upgraded with a low sleek "torpedo" style C-body with chrome window reveals, a bit more slant in the windshield, and a curved rear window. There is not much on this Cadillac that resembles what rolled off the Detroit assembly line back in 1940 however! This build started back in 1999, when this 62 was taken down to bare metal, primed, block sanded & sprayed with a gorgeous Cadillac White Diamond Pearl and complimented with a contrasting Sand Poly on the fenders. Coupled with the exceptional brightwork, newer glass & the new wide whitewall Coker tires, this 1940 Cadillac is a thing of beauty! The powertrain was updated again in 2010 & is being supplied by a 6.2L Vortec LS2 V8 & a 6L80E overdrive transmission that was sourced from a low mileage 2008 Escalade, ensuring that there is more than adequate power to enjoy cruising the boulevards OR the highways, and the power is put to the ground through a Currie Ford 9" rear end fitted with 3.50 gears, new leaf springs, hangars, bushings, etc. It is estimated (but not documented) that only about 4k miles have been put on it since all of the upgrades were completed. The entire front suspension was refitted with a 1975 Cadillac suspension, new ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, power steering box & even 4-wheel disc braking. The drivability of a car this size is amazing. The custom interior is in keeping with the elegance of a 1940's Cadillac, using a bone white Ultraleather, power front windows, a hidden stereo behind the chrome dash, a cold blowing Gen IV Vintage Air A/C, tilt & telescopic steering, a 6-disc changer in the finished trunk, a fresh Optima battery & even all new fluids as well. This is a vintage Cadillac that has the ability to be a daily driver & these rarely come around with this type of equipment or in this type of condition!.
