Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte is proud to digitally present this 1986 GMC C1500.
There's no question that right off the bat, the square body's styling scored points with pickup buyers eager for something new. Rather than the sleek appearance of the pickup it replaced, the 1973 C/K featured broader, bulkier looks that incorporated more giant glass, a hood that opens inside the fenders (rather than as a clamshell), and a bolder grille. It was a muscular, clean take on the pickup concept, and it helped contribute to roomier cabins with better ventilation and a quieter on-road experience. Suspension components were explicitly engineered to absorb rough roads with minimal bounce, using computerized simulations before being cast-a first for GM's pickups. Wheelbases were stretched for all truck versions, improving stability and smoothness, and disc brakes were standard on the forward wheels.
Airbag suspension on all four corners and 20" U.S. Mags wheels set the tone for this awesome square-body truck. A cowl hood, molded front, and rear valance panels, plus a chrome grill give it a subtle, custom look without taking away from its insanely popular body style. A small block Chevy V8 with an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold is nestled underneath that cowl hood. Headers direct that chevy V8 sound through dual exhaust and performance mufflers, giving everyone full notice of your arrival. Power steering, power brakes, and a three-speed automatic transmission make this truck easy to maneuver while you sit comfortably in the black vinyl interior. You have been looking for a square body for a while.
